Pink panther, more like pink ranger.

I never liked that one, as her skirt wasn't so shape-revealing and also hid other bits.

Meh.

How is America going?

Hubby is content.

His finger is finally healing.

Obviously you missed that.

He was injured on the job on seriously like the 3rd day.

Sigh.

He has been out of work for nearly 4 months now.

Was finally released to go back on 12/2, BUT they laid him off!

YAY!

I never liked that one, as her skirt wasn't so shape-revealing and also hid other bits.

Meh.

How about this one?

There's a meat recall in Colorado now. I sure hope niki didn't get poisoned by bad horse meat.....

I don't eat horse meat, at least on purpose. And from what I've heard, it smells like horse when you cook it so I think I'd notice.

I went out with friends for meat fondue back in the day when I was happily roaming the streets of unnamed swiss city and apparently their fondue was half beef and half horse meat. Did not notice really. Once they told us we started thinking about it and noticing slight taste difference but before then...not a clue.

Query of the self-styled or actual experts here, si man: Keyless remote to the T-B.-mobile has been balky for a while. It usually (but not always) locks the jalopy from close range; it almost always unlocks the jalopy only from many yards away. Battery-replacement has no effect, no man. Whussup, huh man -- time to get a new one? Any way to program one other than at the (grrrrr) dealership, huh man?

I don't eat horse meat, at least on purpose.

On one of our last trips to Ecu, I insisted that Mrs. T-B. & I take a post-arrival detour into northern Peru. Via a muddy, mountainous, wending route that our hired driver later swore he'd never attempt again for any fee, no man, we reached the extremely bucolic, rustic border, which consisted of bored border guards on both sides and a huge bamboo pole that they lifted by hand to enable egress and ingress between countries.

There was a little group of stores just on the Peru side, and while we were changing money, a chicken and her brood walked in and out, cluck man.

We went to the nearest town of any size (Namballe, if anyone is a research-nut). Gas prices in Peru were so high that the only thing walking on the main street was a turkey. We found that most of the restaurants were closed. Mrs. T-B. finally charmed one place into serving us carne de res. The meat was way tougher than anything that we'd ever eaten before. Upon inquiry, we found that it was burro, bray man!

Apparently, when they run out of cows, chickens, and eggs, they'll eat a burro. "Waiter! Bring me more burro!"

We stayed overnight in a brand-new, otherwise-unoccupied motel between the border and Namballe. We had to leave quite early in the morning because of more rain that threatened our up-mountainside return. Our departure was delayed because the young Peruvian border-guard had gotten drunk overnight and was nearly too hung-over to mark my passport with the Gringo Exit Stamp from his completely dried-up inkpad, sigh man. (Ecus and Peruanos can travel between the two countries merely by showing their passport or National ID card; gringos are treated more suspiciously, see man.)

I'd love to go back to that town during daylight hours and for more time. I bought a nice leather belt in one of the stores, and I told the proprietor, who spoke English, that I planned to wear it to my job in the U.S. (which I did and have done since). He beamed so brightly that I'll never forget it, no man. Unfortunately, our hired driver will never attempt the trip again, no man, nor is even a standard trip to Ecu all that feasible with a 2-year-old in charge of our lives, wee man.

More random Ecu trivia (where's Part IV when we need her, huh ma'am?):

The hired driver above has green eyes and is therefore nicknamed Gato (male cat). Mama-Mrs.-T-B. is nicknamed Gata (female cat), although I've never heard her called that, no man.

Gato is really into cockfighting, which is legal in Ecu. In fact, some towns will produce xeroxed flyers with information on upcoming cockfights, si man. Gato said that he's very successful at knowing which roosters to bet on, and he's made a nice little secondary income from this noble avocation, $i man. In response to my question, he said that roosters are specially bred for fighting (different bloodlines than regular roosters), even more so than dogs in the U.S. that are bred for dogfighting.

(Sideline question: Why aren't the words "fightcocking" and "fightdogging," huh man?)

Gato works for a taxi/chauffeur company and has made as many as two 5-hour round-trips per day between Mrs. T-B.'s hometown and Cuenca, Ecu's third-largest city and the only "nearby" city of any worth for medical care, aarrgh man. Those trips aren't easy, either, no man -- mountains, plus roads with potholes every few feet that are big enough to swallow a smaller South American country, backache man. Ecus have to replace their car tyres (British spelling) about every 10 months, sigh man, and I hate to think about their shock absorbers and suspension, shudder man.

Mrs. T-B.'s hometown has a doctor or two and a "clinic" of sorts. I've told her many times (Asia, >/=3) that we could make an absolute fortune if we could build a real hospital there. Brother D? $teveklar? If this isn't immediately feasible, bear in mind that I want a hippopotamus for Christmas. Only a hippopotamus will do. We take PayPal, $i man.
