My neighbours gave us three giant jackfruit from their fruit plantation in Malaysia yesterday. Today, there are maggots crawling out of them. They JUMP.

I am never going to feel clean again, ever. sad.png

Eww gross!

Feed the cow sugar or saccharin beforehand, goodtaste man. Make sure that it's a brown cow so that it will yield chocolate ice cream, slurrppp man. Then, walk the product down here to my house -- it won't melt, <0 degr. C, man.

Speaking of brown cows, my youngest boy swore up and down that white chicken eggs were dinosaur eggs and the brown eggs were chicken eggs. We used to have to alternate what eggs we bought. He also wanted a cow so we could put it own our porch so he can always have milk. He still is a big milk drinker

-20F and -44 F wind chill..

We are colder than the North Pole!

North Pole is like 5 F degree. High of 26 F today

It's 21 here today. It's funny though it now smells like fall outside for me, and for as long as I've lived here I still can't make sense of F degrees when it's cold. When it's hot it makes sense.

I don't know if I would be able to pull that off.

Hey, everybody!

I hope you're staying safe in your warm homes...

They say the weather is bad and the temperatures are really, REALLY low...

We are good here not as cold as some.

Stay safe!

More importantly, she's very, uh, eye-catching, especially when one is trying to be sneaky and surf VJ under the radar at work.

(But it's all good cos I have figured out that signatures can be hidden!)

So it's good I turned off the signatures :D

New car vs old car.

payments vs owning outright.

pros and cons???

or even if used dealer vs private owner?

I'll be honest, we have the Jeep and we make about $500/month payments on it. I really just want a commuter car and really don't mind if it's used but I also don't want something that needs to be fixed. I was thinking a new Mazda2 or something similar may be a good idea also. Anything equivalent or cheaper in price. I don't need anything fancy, just the basics include manual vs auto.

IMO - if it can at all be helped, cars should be bought with cash or paid off ASAP if there is no penalty. $500/month is like how much a month I paid in rent in Colorado (actually it was less than that).

You'll pay a premium for a dealer obviously, so it is up to you and your comfort level. They do clean up the car nice for sale though and if they have some sort of used car warranty that actually looks good, then that is preferable, but you'll have to decide if it is worth the mark up.

Manual has better control and on a new car you'll save a little on it, but I see pros and cons both ways.

There is a lot of power in being debt free.

Our rent is double that and our mortgage payment will likely be close to that for a 150k-175k house. I was looking at the 200k spot but I think it's a little out of our range for owning tbh, the payment would be within the right range but more than hubs is comfortable with, especially with very little to put as down payment. Thankfully we don't really need one as hubs qualifies for VA loans, but still, I know it's beneficial. Housing prices have obviously raised up since you were here last. smile.png We're not interested in either a townhouse, a duplex, or apartment (or any other type of multi-family home) Just want a single family detached house, with a garage (hopefully 2 car), 2-3 bedrooms and 1-2 bathrooms. We also won't drive an hour or so for him to get to work, he wants a 30 min drive max.

Hubs original brand new truck was about the same payment, then he traded that for a big ol' ford which he traded for the jeep 2 days later. Too much impulse buying (beyond the original Nissan truck) IMHO. He spent too much on the Jeep as well originally but it is what it is.

My old car was a 2004 and it wasn't until the ex and I broke up in 2011 that it had any problems that needed money. But it was also a Chrysler so I'm looking at more imports now because I feel they tend to last longer before they need fixing, however the fixing is generally more expensive.

I prefer a manual car vs an automatic.

The only debt hubs and I have right now is the Jeep which we'll probably own until it's unfixable somehow. We pay everything else off every month. But I don't want to work to only pay for a car either, that's ridiculous.

As it is it's not a bad thing for me to have a little debt to pay off. Which is why I got the credit card, to help raise my credit score.
