A word of advice make sure spouse attends interview

I understand being able to attend together makes for a strong case....but in a way it shouldn't matter. Some embassies (like Mumbai where me & my husband are) simply do not allow it. And it is absolutely unfair that we do not get that chance to present our case together as a unit like others do, yet are still judged in the same way. They need to make the rules uniform across the board in order for this to be a fair process.

And yes, I've read the sample questions and the embassy interview reviews...I agree that some of the questions contain a lot of ambiguity...which I think is purposeful and sneaky...and so I practice with my husband. I quiz him on ambiguous questions and explain to him the double meaning if he misses it and we formulate a good response together. That way, at the time of the interview if a question like that arises, he will already have an idea of how to answers. I told him not to be afraid to CLARIFY the question...ask the stupid officer what they mean by their ambiguous question.

I wish I could go with him, but instead I will just work with him to prepare him so that at least maybe I will be the voice in his head during the interview.

Thanks for making me clear.

To say be there is not exactly true

some consulates turn spouses away

to wait outside, so one persons

experience does not dictates an

approval or not, many reviews shows

people turned away at embassies.

It can be good to be there and can also

work against some, remember the IO

already decided by the time a person go

to the counter, its when they cant answer

a question that the spouse in attendance

may come in handy for the immediate

approval, not being there does not mean a

denial, maybe a reschedule

BethAnn and Omar,

Yes, and I for one appreciate you sharing your experience. You will always have people saying this that and the other thing. People will disagree and say things that make no sense at all in relation to what you have said. Just ignore them. I agree with you. In most cases having the fiance/spouse present at the embassy is almost alway an advantage, even where embassies do not allow the other in. I have read dozens of reviews and many have said that even in countries where the spouse is not allowed in they have taken the partners passport in to prove that they are outside. I cannot imagine how this could be a detriment to anyone. But of course you will always have those that just like to hear themselves/ see themselves talk. (No specific poster named) Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience. God bless both of you.

Aloha Ke Akua

David & zoila thank you!!! ! didn't realize this topic would be contested like it's been. I'm just trying to help people. I'm sure people get approved without their spouse there but why would you take a chance? I don'tuunderstand that line of thinking.

There's a saying my pastor always says "I'm not talking about you unless its you". You were speaking of your own experience so how in the world can anyone negate YOUR experience.

If it doesn't apply to you, dismiss it. Put on the shelf maybe you will pass on to someone else. But how in the world can you slap down what someone else experienced.

Girl your husband is coming home for the hoildays, FOR GOOD!!. God bless you two have a great time. Check in now and then. Throw up the deuces. Smile and wave. Peace out.!!goofy.gifheart.gif

You are 100% right. It almost certainly helps to have your spouce/fiance present unless of course the relationship is not real and each person answers differently. But of course if your relationship is real and you tell the truth it is easy. It's so much easier to tell the truth. Some people just have nothing better to do than to be arguementative.

I thought this was a forum to give each persons opinion

I don't not get argumentative on the internet especially

with those who always seem to put others down who is

not in agreement with them, since I am no lawyer, i'll

leave some posts alone....I respectfully apologise to the

lawyers my opinion offended...I just have a mind of my own

SORRY....is my final say on the matter

It is just hard to argue with someone's personal experience. With us it was a matter of me being there or denial or at if not denial a request for another interview. maybe it won't happen with everyone, but just make sure your spouse remembers the exact date of your last visit!

I'm jealous! I wasn't allowed in my husband's interview! I pretended to need the ladies room just to get a sneak peek inside the facility! I was made to wait in the courtyard....LUCKY YOU!! And congrats!

Just wanted to let ya'll know that the CO specifically asked where I was and then called me into my husband's interview in Kingston Jamaica. My husband couldn't remember the exact date of my last trip and the CO told me that he was concerned. I told him I've been to see my husband 14 times since we met and then he asked how many times since we were married... I told him 8. He also asked me for dates of our most recent photos.

So my advice?? Go with your spouse to the interview!!! Because if any questionscome up tthere will be an opportunity to address them if you are there. They will ask where you are and will probably want to meet you. Especially for countries where there are significant cases of fraud.

I hope this helps. Not sure we would have gotten the visa if I hadn't been there.
