He was 18 ... Why was he still at this school when he threatened to kill a teacher. Why did they just give him a suspended sentence..... A big boys time out,,, go sit in the corner. The school administration should have protected the school more... You cannot hurt this poor child's feelings?

What do you think should have been done? What's a "big boy's time out" when it comes to a threat?

You make a lot of assumptions as to why things like this happen. And there's always someone else to blame. And you immediately label them liberals just because it suits your argument.

So........ he was 18, went and bought a gun, passed a background check, then legally bought the gun he used to shoot two people at school?

the evil that walks among us..comes in the vague form of young adults struggling in some manner...mostly emotional (librals)..and when unchecked and/or unnoticed..the evil that walks among us confuses temporary adversities as final nail in coffin and kills self...which is good (for trueblooded muricans)...one less evil young liberal walking the streets...no one mentions the need for positive adult presence in highschoolers lives..the evil that walks among us is mostly left to fend for itself when depressed or angry at a (libral) teacher/administrator. a competent mentor or advisor or counselor could have, most likely, saved the evil from offing itself..but dead is better. i prefer la pierre spiitle to a kenyans..ftw.

Why does someone who makes a threat to kill another get to legally purchase a firearm? Why do teenagers get to legally purchase firearms?

To your first question, they shouldn't. It requires some sort of entry into the system though, such as a restraining order etc.

To the latter question...its hard to say. I think a majority of people would say 18 equals adulthood - IE you can enter the military. For the record, handguns are 21 whereas long guns are 18.

If 18 equals adulthood, then an 18 year old adult ought to be allowed to have a beer or glass of wine from time to time, don't you think? It's all upside down when we're more restrictive on alcoholic beverages than we are on firearms. That makes no sense.

If it takes an entry into the system to prevent a potential killer from acquiring the murder weapon, then one would think it should require an entry into the system to keep one away from school, no? And any such entry should disqualify one from purchasing firearms for sure. But then they'll be able to get their hands on firearms at the gun show across the street if the gun store cannot sell it to them.

I'm impressed that you were able to parse any meaning out of the nonsensical screeds that are being posted in here.

Point taken, but he didn't even have to go to a gun show in first place as he was able to make it through existing barriers legally. I'm not sure how can create a better net to catch people like him.

Schoolkids don't need to be able to buy firearms and ammo. There. Fixed. Simple.
