HI,

I need some help. My wife came on a K1 visa. We have been married since November 2006. She doesnt work yet. Is there a deadline for when we should apply for her green card? Her I-94 expires the end of January 2007. I was thinking about applying for her green card in March of 2007. She received her SSN card two weeks ago with the message "Authorized to work with DHS approval". I guess I have to apply for the EAD, because at the point of entry (Washington, DC) they did not stamp her I-94 to work temporarily. I'm kinda confused with all the different information between the forums.

t&s,

Before she dies or wants to leave the USA. But before the end of January would be preferable.

No deadline to file for AOS, you need to marry within the 90 days of the I-94, which you did.

Many file months after the I-94 expires, some because of financial reasons, other , because they are waiting for a document like marriage certificate. Others wait to file after they do their taxes, so that they can use their newest return for better financial documents.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

There is no deadline to file your AOS, as long as you satisfy the conditons of your K1 by marrying within the 90 days.

If your wife wishes to work then you will also need to file for EAD. K1 on entry is employment authorised. This is different from the actual employment authorisation document (EAD), that she will need to show an employer.

Most people file their AOS as soon as you are able, and have all the neccessary documents, ie certified marriage certificate ready to go.

Best of luck

EAD has a biometrics appointment - although if you file EAD and AOS jointly, then I think there is only one biometrics... but I'm not sure.

There is no interview or anything for the EAD, as riblet said just the biometrics. This is quick and painless, fingerprints and a picture. Most people when they file the AOS and EAD together get one biometrics letter, some however have had 2 letters.

i am in the middle of preparing the aos paperwork too (my husband and i got married in november also and his I-94 expires the end of january too, but i understand from what is posted here that we are ok with time and that is a relief, i was starting to panic) but i have a question about the evidence for the aos. i know we have to have his birth certificate translated from french into english (there is also an arabic one, they do both in morocco... do i have to have both translated or is one enough?) and i am wondering if there are any guidelines concerning who can do the translation (i know of a few people who are fluent in both french and english and they are able to do it for us). i saw the example letter for the translator to fill in/sign to verify that they are qualified to do the translation, is that enough?

my next question is concerning a vaccination supplement. immigration took his vaccination records in new york when he arrived. the only thing we have is his chest xray (from the tuberculosis testing)... is there something that i am missing? maybe i am not understanding what they need...

any information anyone can give is appreciated (i already read the guides and faq's and didn't find the answer in either place), thanks.

For the translation .. not sure.

For the vaccination supplement, is there anyway that you can get a copy of your original worksheet form the panel doctor in home country? or do you have a copy of any vaccination record?

When your husband had his original medical did they do all the vaccinations needed?

Start with these questions first. You might need to have additional vaccinations and the I693a vaccination supplement filled out by a civil surgeon here.

If you need something translated from Arabic you can contact the embassy in New York. My husband and I used it for his birth certificate and they charged us $14 and had it back in less than two weeks while someone here in Columbus wanted $175. Posting the web site in case you are interested.... www.moroccanconsulate.com

As to the vaccination supplement, instead of trying to get the records from the doctor in Morocco, my husband elected to take the shot again from the civil surgeon and have the form completed. Now, of course, I try and let everyone know to get the shot records from the doctor at the time of the visit.

Good luck on your journey.
