Hi VJers,

I would like to ask if it is ok to have the medical done after the expiration of the petition? Mine will expire on March 6th, 2014. I already have my MNL case number but I still cannot proceed to the next step because I am waiting for my son's (k2) passport to be released on dec.18th. I think his passport number is also needed when paying visa application, am I right? Also, one of the posters here posted that earliest possible interview appointment as of 2 days ago was already April 15th if i am not mistaken. As much as possible, I want my medical to be done 10 days or 1 week before interview. Hoping for your reply, thanks...

yes, I know about it. That is why for sure, my interview will be beyond the expiration of my noa2 since available slots filled so fast. But as fellow members here say that they will automatically extend the petition so that interview appointment can proceed but I am not sure if the extension is also applicable to medical. pls help...

The petition will not expire for a year, the embassy extends the petition 4 months at a time up to the years time.

Yes you will need your son's passport to proceed, can't do the medical, pay the visa fee or schedule the interview without the passport.

Embassy recommends doing the medical 5-7 days before the interview.

Well you can't get medical until you have your appointment.

Actually the medical could be done before scheduling the interview (for Manila), they need is a copy of the NVC letter/email with the MNL # on it.

Thanks again Hank.. I am just worried that I will waste much time if I do the medical early, that is why I want to have it done one week before interview because I am still considering to have hardware removal (my titanium screws in my knee due to vehicular accident) on august next year

Thank you so much hank, you have been very helpful smile.png So it will be fine doing the medical after the expiration. Hope I got it right

Actually the petition will not expire at the 4 month mark, the embassy will extend its validity so you are fine.
