I'm not sure what you are asking - do you mean to bring to your interview? My understanding is that you have already submitted a certified copy and would only need to bring a regular copy to the interview. I'm not sure though, sorry.

Probably better to send a photocopy of the certified copy with your application. Bring your certified copy to the interview. We did it the other way around, but it turned out fine because our officer returned our certified copy at the completion of the interview.

I had asked the same question before my wife's AOS interview last week. We just took a regular copy and the original marriage certificate we have. The interviewer asked for the copy, looked at it and put it in the file.

We provided a certified copy issued by the county recorder's office and didn't have any problems.

Ok Scotty you are confusing me....

Most copies that you get directly from the courthouse have been certified by the Clerk. That's the type of certification USCIS is looking for.

You don't take the copy you were given and go have it certified someplace.

I guess the answer depends whether you have already submitted a certified copy from the clerk's office where your marriage is registered.

If you've already submitted a certified copy, then I think you should bring a photocopy of that certified copy, and you will get the certified copy back.

If you have not already submitted a certified copy, I would bring one with you to show them.

This is just my understanding of the situation, I'm not as familiar with AOS as other things.

Our interviewer took copies of whatever we brought to the interview if it wasn't already a copy. I believe she made a copy of our marriage certificate.

And when we got married we ordered multiple certified copies because that's what most places (banks and whatnot) want in order to change your name on other documents and id.
