Need some advice - after packet 3

My fiance got her packet 3 a month and a half ago.

I mailed the original affidavit of support and supporting evidence twice and it seems to have gotten lost/ stolen in thailand mail system. (Once priority mail, once fed ex).

So is it ok that scanned and emailed copies be sent to the embassy instead of originals since I don't want the petition to expire..

Send an email to the embassy with the tracking number and the name of the person that signed for it, and ask them what's up.

You can click on the 'X' to the right to ignore this signature.

Lets back up just a step.

First of all, what are you filing for? Your timeline indicates K-1, but your profile indicates naturalization (approved)

You mailed the 134 & evidence twice? To whom did you send it? The P3 has many documents required. Police cert. medical, etc. These all should be send together to the Consulate with the 134 and supporting evidence.

So, for now I will assume you sent the 134 to your fiance and she will then send the entire packet to the consulate. In that case, where you have the envelope delivered is critical. It is very unlikely Thai post lost your packet twice. I'm guessing you had it delivered to someone on her family, or a friend who may have it sitting on a table forgotten about.

For future reference, DHL is the way to go shipping to Thailand. They do all the Visa docs for state department. Also the cheapest option.

Give us some more info, and we'll sort this out for you.

Filing for K1 for my fiance. My profile says naturalization because this is an old account and I naturalized a while ago. I'm not sure why the thing still displays the old status but anyways to the point.

My fiance has police certificate and payment of embassy in hand. She needs my affidavit of support, supporting evidence and an updated letter of support. I sent that on Nov 20th most recently by fed ex but it never got there. I sent the Priority Mail before but without delivery confirmation.

And yes I've had this discussion with my fiance but she adamantly denies that it ever arrived. She checks the mail everyday.

Edit: DHL being the cheapest.. it's $96 for a small envelope containing some papers. I sent Priority Mail for less

Ok, let me rephrase. DHL is the most cost effective and reliable method. Priority mail is the least reliable method. Trust me when I say $100 is pocket change compared to what this whole process is going to cost you.

Where are you sending this package? Home? office? Friend? Family? In the city? out in the country?

Home in the city.

Strange thing is that her Police Certificate arrived in the mail without a hitch. So did packet 3 although it took 6 days from Bangkok to get there.

My advise, suck it up, pay the 100 bucks. DHL will have it there in a week. You'll have a delivery date and name. Mystery will be solved.

Alternatively, proceed as you suggest. Send scans and include a letter stating what happened and she will hand carry the originals to the interview. That will most likely get you a 221, but at least things will be moving forward.

IMHO neatness counts. If you start sending piecemeal packets to the Consulate, you set yourself up for a 221. I would take the time to do it right. A home address in the city should be a no brainer for confirmed delivery. Just do DHL and get on with the next step in your journey.

Just a side note, you said "My fiance has police certificate and payment of embassy in hand. She needs my affidavit of support, supporting evidence and an updated letter of support."

Does she have the medical completed? Current Passport?
