Oh wow. Sorry to hear that. May have been easier to get him a PI passport?

I think my fried filed last November. I think they're starting to deny expedites at NVC stage now. Not particularly sure. I'm tempted to expedite but we're not really in a hurry. We still have a lot of documents to prepare.

We requested an expedite with the NVC in the beginning of January. The expedite was granted on 1/16. I paid the AOS/IV fees and my attorney submitted our AOS/IV package to the NVC. Our package was received on 1/30. We are still waiting for our case to be completed and sent to the Embassy. It seems like expedited processing has slowed down a bit.

05/15/2013: Notice of Action 1 (Case transferred to NBC)
