Has anyone that was expedited gotten a case # yet? I just called NVC and they said they have not received the petition. USCIS approved on Nov 21st and I got the email saying they sent it on the 25th. I am still in the Philippines with my family and have not had my mail in the states checked recently. I just want to get out of here....

Yes it was transferred from USCIS on Nov 25th. NVC said they should have received it and said I should call USCIS and ask them....round and round. USCIS transferred from NBC to Nebraska service center and in a week it was approved. NOA1 was April 1st so I was due to be reviewed anyways but now the NVC wait...grr

some errata, stuff you should now:

1. USCIS ain't the quickest shipping entity out there - just because it's been approved doesn't mean it's left the building. There's stuff USCIS has to do after approval in creating the A-File, scanning and what nots. When they are fast - that's a week. When they are slow, figure a month.

2. NSC, Nebraska Service Center - it's too new on their approvals to accurately track the turn around time for shipping into NVC.

3. When it hits the door at NVC, figure 2 weeks (currently) for NVC to log the casefile and be ready for the next step for the petitioner.

4. When You (the Petitioner) has the Glory Day* at NVC via telephone, request the expedite with a supervisor on the day the AOS FEE BILL hits the petitioner's email inbox (that's about 4 to 5 days later).

5. An expedite at USCIS doesn't get you an expedite at NVC - you have to ask for it, with a Supervisor. Usually the supervisor will tell you to send off an email, attention SUPV Sue (or another name). After emailing the request, check in 4 to 5 days later, as NVC has to contact the IV Unit in Manila, and ask them to facilitate the expedite, then NVC has to wait for the response back from Manila IV.

HTH !

*The Glory Day at NVC - so, you've been calling once a day, asking for casefile status at NVC. Prior, you gots nothing from a NVC TeleOperator - they'll tell you they don't have it, or it's not hit the building, etc etc. However, on The Glory Day - when you give over the USCIS Receipt # - an NVC TeleOperator gives over the Consular Casefile Number and asks for the email addresses on you two. Usually, the next day, you can call and get the Invoice Identification Number and ask that the AOS FEE BILL be emailed to the petitioner.

and NVC received it on 12/10/2013 and stated wait 10 to 20 days for case number. That's the holiday season so I do not expect to get it until after New Year

Hmm, OK....knowledgeable reply.

So just trying to call the USCIS from within the PI a few moments ago, seems their clocks are off. Anyways, NVC said....haha that they should have received bulk mail by now and given receipt. I do not have a snail mail reconfirm but the the email said the 25th Nov sent to NVC. I am still in the PI but the wife and my young foreign looking (mine) son are heading to Mindanao (bad idea), we are getting out of the Visayas, I am going other direction...hope to be back in 3 months or so if I get the receipt. Sorry to my family but can only wait so long and time is up. wish me luck and all those in similar situations. Why oh why did I not file a DCF and had my family home in USA 5 months ago? because the visa service I used was incompetent. It's not so fun here anymore....

Bags are packed Im ready to go, Superferry is tooting it's horn....

I called and they now have received as of the 20th. I expect with the holidays the case # will be awhile. My NOA1 was April 1st and with all the other Philippine expedites any idea if this will get an earlier appt for interview? My petition got sped up by maybe a week as they were approaching my date if Igors list was accurate. I hope they have some priority as the late filers got the same expedite approvals

To Jeff @ Missy, in the USCIS website, it says there that the burden belongs to the petitioner to prove whether an "expedite" is warranted. May I ask how the USCIS determined the valid grounds in your case? Did they ask for photos of the damage by the typhoon and any other material proof? My mom has a pending I-130 petition and we come from Bohol province which got a double whammie; first the October earthquake and then the November typhoon.

Does the "expedite" work only for those petitions filed prior to these catastrophes or do they work even for those petitions filed after. Thing is, we filed her petition just last 19-Dec. We already received NOA-1 last 23-December.

Good question. I would call the USCIS and ask. I called them on the 13th of Nov with my 12v car charger clipped to my motorbike battery, actually lost power before the call was complete but had an email the next day saying they were expediting. I was also Bohol, no proof needed, I believe they are doing anyone in the Philippines. I would think they would expedite you, parts of Bohol are pretty messed up with people still living in tents.

Thanks Jeff@Missy! I'll ask my sister who is the petitioner to call up USCIS too.

So any updates yet? You may be in for a record approval all the way to MNL.

The NVC expedited my case directly to MNL, no back and forth of payments or papers. When I called them though I used extreme emergency situation to the USCIS. I hear others have used humanitarion purposes, not sure if this makes a difference but I am extremely happy and I will be back on the plane to MNL in a week. My wife went to stay with her parents while I am back in the states and yesterday when I called her whole family was panicking as the river by their house was almost ready to wash them away with the heavy rains, Luckily it receded and they are ok now. Got to get back and get them to MNL ASAP.
