But let's speak seriously. Jackson-Lee is a result of Gerrymandering, AKA "Affirmative Action for Congress". It places in office people who otherwise would have no prayer in the private sector or even in politics above city council. Can you imagine her in a meeting for a company that depends on results to survive?

It also stems from the belief that only blacks can represent blacks and results in black representation and influence in congress being very low. The influence of blacks is far below the influence of the NRA. The NRA represents 5 million members in the USA. Blacks make up more than 37 million citizens. Blacks lag behind every other racial/ethnic group, including illegal aliens, in every economic category. Gerrymandering and Sheila Jackson-Lee (and other ineffective representatives) are why. This "rigging" of districts, not to benefit blacks but to minimize their influence, actually relieves the majority white representatives from concerning themselves with "black issues". Making sure that Jackson-Lee has a large majority of black constituents in HER district means everyone else around her has very few. You get ONE representative keyed in to "black issues" and 5 or 6 that couldn't possibly care less. THEIR constituents are white.

If the Grand Poo-bah of the KKK selected representatives for blacks, they could wish for no better than Sheila Jackson-Lee.

FWIW Obama has no interest in extending unemployment benefits any further as people receiving unemployment "count" in the statistic that everyone looks at (for some unknown reason). They do NOT count once their benefits are exhausted and the "unemployment rate" goes down. Obama cheers and points to his accomplishment without mentioning that the workforce participation is at an all time low.

Blacks, and everyone else, are not going to get further UI benefits because it would make Obama's numbers look bad. He already looks bad enough and his polls are dropping like a stone.
