Even though cash was a little low from all the immigration, moving and wedding expenses, we felt that a honeymoon was the perfect "ending" to all the stress we'd gone through to be together.

I have always thought a honeymoon should immediately follow the wedding, so that's what we did.

We took a vacation to Vermont, but neither of us wanted to call it a "honeymoon" as such. We promised that we'd go on one some day, but we haven't made it yet and life just kinda takes over....

<sigh>

Oh well - priorities dictate that paying the bills are more important, and I'm sure that we'll enjoy it more when we don't have to worry about being strapped for cash, even if that's WAY down the line!

Make sure you're wearing clean knickers. You never know when you'll be run over by a bus.

We spent 1 week in Vegas after our wedding--and then one week where we live--in Hawaii. (this was our rest week to get us ready to go back to the grind. In fact, I always leave a week of my vacation just to rest--or else you are so busy you burn out. In my opinion, I think honeymoon's are more important than having a big fancy wedding. We spent almost as much on our honeymoon as our wedding. I had the wedding of my dreams and the honeymooon of my dreams and budget. I mean--your honeymoon is how you start your life off together as a married couple. And I personally, am really thanksful for the wonderful memories and the time to just be a newlywed! You have to make time for vacation. And the money. Or else its just all work and no play. As you might be able to tell--I'm in need of a mini-break!

I am very fortunate because, I do work for an airline. my company gives me ample time away.

I make use of it. when hubby comes I will proble take 2 weeks off -because, I have comp time.

then use my vacation time for something else later.

After the wedding hubby stayed in Canada for about a week... We spent a couple of those days at the Bed And Breakfest where we got married (they have a little chapel on site) and it was also the place where he proposed to me....

He always promised me we would go to Italy one day... that is my dream to visit Italy :)

our story is pretty similar to Cygnet... we had kinda like a mini-moon.

We discussed it through and through and cos we wanted to buy a house together fairly quick we decided to save up our cash and not splash out on a big trip. Instead straight after the reception, we left for three days to Omaha, which is like an hour from Lincoln, and stayed at the Marriot, which was our first hotel we went to together.... we had tons of room service, went shopping, shopping, shopping, and had tons of champagne and mexican beer, resulting in extreme snoring.... (poor people next door to us! LOL)

We had a great relaxing time though and came back stress-free and relaxed. Now we finally did buy that house and are planning to take a trip to Europe next year as a honeymoon and travel through France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany for two, perhaps three weeks, so that will be totally great!

And even though our first idea was the Niagara Falls.... that idea got put back a couple of years LOL

I mean we got married in Australia so that is a honeymoon in itself I guess. We spent a few days driving around the country with friends - but it wasn't what I had in mind. I mean I was with him which was all that mattered but some day we WILL go island hopping in Greece and cruise the MEditeranean...

some day...

Finally finished with immigration in 2012!
