I'm unable to, uh, regularly consummate my marriage now that I-130 is filed and we've gotta wait a year. She could use her valid B1/B2 visa and *try* to come in - but we've already been warned the last time she entered at POE in September so I don't want to risk her getting denied entry next time. Maybe we can try in the summer, I guess.

Of course I could fly to Taiwan (25-hour journey door to door, Indy isn't a hub city) for ~$2K each time, but that's some expensive ways of consummating my marriage.

Some of you guys need to uncork a bit, okay? It's Friday, relax. I can look forward to plowing my driveway tomorrow morning.

Hey, consumating a marriage is a one time thing.

Posted (edited)

I believe, by definition, that a marriage is consummated once, not repeatedly. Usually thought to be the first time a married couple have sex.

Note to OP: "consummate" in the context of marriage means to have sex for the first time. If you've already done that, the only way to "consummate" anything is to marry somone else.

I did say this, already.

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

Did you really only file a month ago? If this is the case then you can in no way blame uscis if it only took a month for your marriage to break down (especially as your reasons were lack of sex and not having someone to look after your kids after school)

Absolutely! The case should be decided sometime in 2020, cost lots of money, and you will lose.

Experts in immigration have made suggestions as to how to speed up the process and reduce the fraud.. Much of the suggested changes would not go over well with many here: drop the K-1, no longer allow co-sponsors, require a common language, increase minimum income to 200% of poverty, etc, etc.

Well, I like it.

OK finally some humor injected.

Look, it's hard not to have the love of your life with you, I'm sure you all totally get that. I needed a place to vent and throw out some out of the box (wack) ideas.

The 17 degree weather with the gloom also doesn't help. Imagine a cold winter night without a warm body snuggle next to you...sigh...

I think the consensus is: "No it won't work unless you can prove malice or other criminal intent to cause your marriage to fail", like say in the movie "The Adjustment Bureau"? I can see some USCIS worker in their cube wearing a grey hat laughing now...

We are all in the same boat, so we all understand.

I am especially in the same boat, as I directly attribute the loss of my last engagement to the hideous amount of time it took USCIS to approve my I-129f. At that time (2010), USCIS was giving priority to Haitian earthquake refugees, which was causing many months of delay for us. While I didn't particularly want to disregard the plight of these earthquake victims, it was hideously wrong of Obama and the State Department to dump the entire burden on us. If they wanted to help these people through USCIS, they should have hired more people to keep pace with the anticipated new demand for USCIS services.

But all is well that ends well. My current fiance is 10 times better than the last one (maybe 100 times better), with a great improvement in my life as a result.

I am not saying you will have the same luck I had, but it goes to show you there are ways out of what happened to you that do not involve lawsuits. I just stuck with what I always did, and it worked like magic.

There was one meber whose Fiancee "walked away" from the relationship due to the waiting process. They went back together and she is here now. I forgot the username but I think they are from The RUB.

Oh my! Here goes another crazy rant. I continue to be stunned that folks here who filed in Nov are already ready to put gloves on and fight with the govt. take a breath, wait your turn like the other 540,000 of us....or don't and make the line shorter for the folks behind you!

Uh, ok - then you and me have a different definition of 'consummation of marriage'.

and that's ok.

I'm out - finally I realize yer on a ranting thread. Rants are cool, I don't participate much in them/with them.

Good Luck with the new wait-> USCIS/NVC/AIT Taiwan, and good luck on interview day. Who knows? you might get lucky with the casefile routed to Nebraska or Texas for adjudication, and them fellas have been trying to go fast on the simpler cases for stand-alone I-130s last month and this month.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
