I stumbled upon this site last week and I have to say.. this site is amazing and so informative. I was thinking og hiring a lawyer but reading most of the threads there is no need to. Everyone here is friendly and helpful.

I hope my journey once it starts is smooth sailing but we all know that won't be the case.

As long as I have others to talk to going through the same thing hopefully it will keep me on the right track.

I have not filed anything yet because I am still trying to figure out if I should file for a fiancee visa or go to cuba get married and then come back and apply for the k3 visa

Ive searched extensivly on the k1- i-129f and know all the documents that are needed which seem pretty easy for me to obtain

but I have not searched on the k3 just yet.. cr1 or i-130

just trying to figure out the quickest route to have my baby here.

Again I am so grateful for this site. Amazing!!

Also, go atop any VJ page, click "Embassy Info" and "Reviews: Embassy," and read details and reviews about Havana.

You can find the "Caribbean" regional forum and look for threads about Cuba.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

thanks- I keep seeing the k3 is obsolete so I guess the proper term would be i-130 or Cr1

but the us govt site still shows k3 so that is why I use the term.

Im still reading through all the posts.. recently found another one stating there are some other documents I never heard of that are needed prior to the interview.. I know I am way head of myself here but Id rather know all up front to make sure all my ducks are in a row that way when I go to Cuba I can give and get all the documents we both need.. have originals for myself here in the us and also give him originals as well that are needed just to be on the safe side.

Seems like a pile of papers ughh

not looking forward to the process but I am so looking forward to having him here with me! :-)

Welcome! Glad to hear your informing yourself. This forum is awesome. I started my process in January this year. I joined in June of 2012 and it was very beneficial to decide which route to take K1 or CR1. I quickly learned through this site that the K3 was useless if I wanted this to be hassle fee. Having all the facts allowed us to make a decision on what to do, especially dealing with Cuba. We had plenty of time to gather the documents, tranlate them, etc. One tip, which every route you take you'll need cuban issued documentation so make sure you get multiple sets for you and your beneficiary. It helps having duplicates here in the US and in Cuba. This helps us not delay the process. luv.gif
