Can you tell me on what criteria did you file a fee waiver please? Asylum or hardship financial conditions? Please it's for a friend of mine who got her LPR based on asylum status but got married (to a working husband making 30k and up), and would like to apply for naturalization (5 years rule). She is hesitating whether to file with a fee waiver or not. She is working too but doesn't want the process to be delayed due to the denial of the fee waiver.

Thank you.

I applied based on income as outlined in the guidelines. As long as you send all evidence needed the more than likely will approve! No guarantee of course. There is nothing to loose.

Ha ok, thank you. You're right. There is nothing to lose. I think she won't be able to make it because of her husband income combined to her own (maybe 45 or 50k and up). Anyway thanks again...

I was skeptical before I sent mine in too.....which is normal....but I decided that the worst they can say is no and then I would have to find a new way. Good luck to your friend.

Hello! I am in in the process of filling out my naturalization papers. I am married to a US citizen, but I am applying based on the 5 years. September 2014 is my 5th year as a GC holder. We separated December 2013, but we haven't filed divorce yet. My question is if anyonw knows if my particular situation may delay my naturalization process, and how to possibly go about my application.

I would like to apply for naturalization with fee waiver.

Based on income for the past 3 years, I am qualified to apply for the fee waiver. My husband and I never filed income taxes together, not even when I was removing my conditions. Last year, I did not file any federal income, but I filed for city income tax filing. I didn't earn anything last year because I went back to school. I will not be able to include my husband's income last year as we are not on speaking terms.

Any insight will be appreciated. Thank you.

If you are filing based on the 5 yr rule then whether your marrige is in good standing or now should not matter. Just tell them the truth about your seperate lives and let them know you are filig based on the 5 yr rule. Any supporting documents you can send supporting/ proving your current situation will be the best evidence.. If you need to include a letter explaining the documents. Otherwise good luck!
