Hi to everyone,

My husband is LPR and he has filed I-130 for me.After all of the tiring processing steps now NVC has moved my case to Islamabad consulate on dec 7 2006.When I called there 5 days before they are saying that they will take further one year to issue me a visa because my priority date is not current right now and they arey dealing with the cases filed on march 1 2002 where as my priority date is 23rd march 2003.I have to ask that after NVC forwarded case to local consulate then they really take one year to process such cases. Please share your experience at Islamabad consulate.

Thanks.

Hi Sumbul,

You have to wait until your priority date will come. My category was F2A when my case transfer to Islamabad. When i call the embassy they told me the same story. Later i sent the proof of my wife's passport copy to upgrade my petition from F2A to IR1 and they upgrade it within days.

Infect i was not aware that i can upgrade my petition, VJ members really helps me allot. My wife became US citizen in April 06.

The delay is not the choice of the consulate in Islamabad. It is a quota visa with yearly limits. They will be giving the visas to those that have been waiting longer than you with earlier priority dates.
