You know Doodle, it night also depend on when you fllight is and which direction you are flying.

For example- Boston to Frankfurt in a late afternoon flight, you might want to try and sleep so the window is good. BUT Frankfurt to Boston in a morning flight, you might not feel sleepy and the aisle could be good.

Even if you take a window seat, get up and walk a little. I usually stand around the doors of the plane out of the aisles for a good half hour to hour at least once if noto twice during the flight. And when you are at your seat, stretch your legs and do leg exercises. http://www.qantas.com.au/info/flying/inThe...hInflight#jump3

But try not to worry too much about DVT http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/4987070.stm

wow those are cool exercises in that first link. i'm definitely printing that out and doing them!!! Thanks!!!

the first leg is boston to london on an overnight and the second is london to cairo in the early evening. I guess if I can I'll try for window to london and aisle to cairo.

You are welcome! (F)

and that was an awesome time to be near a window because we flew over the Alps and saw them so clearly. I even took pictures out of the plane window of them.

oh wow that must have been amazing!!!!!!!

I flew over the Alps every trip to and from Italy that I made. I think I saw them once. All the other times I slept right through it!

I dont know...lol I had no real idea of our flight plan. Sometimes they don't fly the way you think they will from one place to another. But these pics were taken on our flight from France to India.

We were just sitting there and all of the sudden noticed what was outside the window, and were speechless! :P We even had some co-passengers ask to look over our shoulders for a minute so they could see it too.

check the back of teh flight magaine in the pocket in front of your seat. Usually there is a map with a somewhat accurate idea of their flight routes. Also many of the planes now have a map running throughout the flight that tells you where you are.

There has to be some sort of bladder-capacity cut-off for taking the window seat. I can't stand it when I get the aisle and I have to get crawled over 6 thousand times by Mr. Peepants who took the window seat.

On a long flight, though, I'll always take the aisle because I can't sleep on planes. That way I can get up without waking anyone up. On a short flight, the window. The other advantage of the aisle is that if someone rather large is sitting next to you and encroaching on your space, you can kind of lean out the aisle.

But I always, ALWAYS ask for the emergency exit rows. Soooo sweet.

Cool, thanks. I tried looking online but it just shows boston and then a little insert with london and then it shows cairo with a little insert with london so not the whole route. Be cool if I could see like the eiffel tower or something, though I doubt we'd be flying that low to see it.

Does anyone know why I can't select my seat until 24 hours before the flight with British Air? Is it a security thing or something?

ok so has anyone ever heard of someone getting sucked into outerspace while sitting at the emergency exit or is this just an unfounded ungrounded fear in my head?

i usually prefer the window seat but one where I can't see the wing of the plane... I have a hard enough time flying and seeing the wing of the plane freaks me out a little, I am not sure why

On shorter flight, I like window seat - away from wing (4 hrs or less)

On longer flight, it's the emergency exit row. The leg room is awesome. We always ask for that seat for those 15 hrs non-stop flights.

I absolutely love window seats, I like to see all the cloud action :P and the water and land below. I like to sit in front of or behind the EXIT ROW. I don't want the responsibility of sittin in it, but I want to be close. I also don't want to be at the back of the near the restrooms.

Only thing that sucks about the window seat is that you have to make the whole row move in order to go to the bathroom.

I love windows, in airplanes, bus, cars, who likes to be a sandwich? And I really fail to understand people that prefer to sit close to the aisle unless they have a bladder problem :P

I like the window seat for flights under 5 hours. I did a window seat from LAX to Hong Kong and will never do that again. I got trapped and couldn't get out for several hours. Now its always an isle seat for the long haul :)
