Just curious especially for longer flights, what everyone's preference is and why. I can't choose my seat until 24 hours before my flight this Monday, and even then I may not have much of a choice but I'm hard pressed to decide. I definitely don't want the middle but do I go for a window so I can rest my head or an aisle so I can come and go without buggin' anyone?

I voted aisle.

On really long flights I have to get up and walk. I hate having to ask people to get up and move so I can get out from a window seat. I use to always take the window seat so I could be left alone and sleep, but getting up and walking has taken priority over sleeping

I definately think the window is better...have the little little extra room to put your pillow against the window and sleep/rest. And you donnot have to get up for anyone if they have to go the restroom.

You know Doodle, it night also depend on when you fllight is and which direction you are flying.

For example- Boston to Frankfurt in a late afternoon flight, you might want to try and sleep so the window is good. BUT Frankfurt to Boston in a morning flight, you might not feel sleepy and the aisle could be good.

Even if you take a window seat, get up and walk a little. I usually stand around the doors of the plane out of the aisles for a good half hour to hour at least once if noto twice during the flight. And when you are at your seat, stretch your legs and do leg exercises. http://www.qantas.com.au/info/flying/inThe...hInflight#jump3

But try not to worry too much about DVT http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/4987070.stm

I'd pick aisle, just because I hate having to climb over people if I want to get up. Though window seats can sometimes give an amazing view.

On the way to India me and my dad were in the 2 far right seats of the plane, and only 2 seats were on each side with 5 across the middle...and that was an awesome time to be near a window because we flew over the Alps and saw them so clearly. I even took pictures out of the plane window of them.

I'd still pick aisle for the convenience of getting up easily though. On two 9 hour flights each way (well that's how long to India) you don't want to be stuck at the window seat unless you can really sleep. I can't sleep on planes so it's not useful for me.

wow those are cool exercises in that first link. i'm definitely printing that out and doing them!!! Thanks!!!

the first leg is boston to london on an overnight and the second is london to cairo in the early evening. I guess if I can I'll try for window to london and aisle to cairo.

more leg room, essential for tall people with crappy knees like me  I also like ones near the front of the economy class.

I base this on numerous, numerous flights.

Oh good point! I would be worried that the door would fly open mid flight and I'd get sucked into the atmosphere. . . but that's just me. . . and that's why I'm bringing along a sedative ;)
