Hello am a new member on VJ My name is charles, I am from Lagos Nigeria. I have being in a relationship with a 60 years old woman who doesnt look her age. we met each other through my friend wife on facebook chat Last year August 2012. We have been talking mostly everyday eversince we met. She made her first visit to me in May this year for 10 days just to get to know each other and met my family and she love it in here and love the food cooked by my mom and after 3 month she return back to me in Sept for her second visit which we did got married in the beautiful eyes of my family and friends.

We have plenty of photo from her first visit in may and her second visit in sept which is when we did got marry.... she return back to the state after we married and file for i-130 in Novemeber and got NOA1 case transferred to nebraska service center.

My question is due to the age gap between us will this cause a problem for the USCIS processing and the nvc, interview at the embassy.

I am 30 years of age and she 60 years but she never looks her age, we submitted so much evidence and she added my name to her insurance life policy and her property and send as evidence as well to USCIS

So will the age gap be a problem, I am really concern.

Please I need an answer to this

Thanks

Lagos is the most difficult consulate to deal with. EVERYTHING is an issue with them so expect the age gap to come into play. Make sure you have LOTS of evidence to support your relationship to counter any concerns they may have. Another visit might be a good idea

good luck

Unfortunately we never know what the CO will ask, what mood they are in or If they got up on the wrong side of the bed. I am 21 years older than my husband but it was never brought up during his interview!! All I can say is be very prepared and provide TONS of evidence. Good Luck!!!!!!

I once read something from someone who went through the Nigerian embassy and she is 21 years older than her husband. She said the age issue was never mentioned. So you can never be sure what could happen. It's good that she has visited twice, but as the other poster suggested, I would have her come again if possible. Maybe even plan on her being there for your interview. Supply them with as much evidence as possible. It's good that you have pictures of her and your mum, etc. But don't be surprised if they put you on AP to investigate things to make sure that is your actual mum and family since Nigeria has sadly been known to "rent" family members for the sake of wedding photos. One thing they will probably talk about is the probability that she can't give you children. You are a young man and they'll assume you're going to want children one day. It's abnormal in most cultures, especially Nigerian culture for a man to marry a woman who is as old, if not older than his mum. They're going to look very closely at this. I'm sure you married her because you love her and want to spend the rest of your life with her, so you may want to have a backup plan in case they deny you. Like maybe her moving to Nigeria to live happily ever after with you there.

thanks for you guys response, but regarding to your advise do you guys think it will be easier for me to have her with me during my interview sometime next year. She will love to be there with me at the interview because she has said that to me before and I told her not to worry that everything will be fine. Age is just a number and to me she never look like a 60 years old woman even to the eyes of my family she such a sweet woman and well loved by every of my family and friend herebut like one of the poster said that no one knows what the CO will ask and may I know what CO means sorry for my question that because am new on here trying to catch up lol

Talking about a tons of evidence one of you told me to prepare for the interview like what kind of evidence should i arrange, will it be better of if she come with me for my interview or just me to show a tons of evidence.

I see no reason why i have to go rent people for my marriage only fake people do such things.......will have thousand of calls log and email exchange video call and tons of proof send to uscis and this same evidence will be show at the interview and i believe this show okay or i can have her with me at the interview which way you guys thinks

I await for replies.

Consular Officer. (the interviewing officer) And I wasn't saying YOU 'rented' people to be family members, but I'm just saying CO's will question everything if there are any red flags. Unlike the court system where you are innocent until proven guilty...with this embassy you are basically guilty until you can prove innocent...you feel me? Frontload the petition with all your evidence, don't wait til you show up at the embassy for your interview. In most cases the CO will already have his mind made up about your situation before you even open your mouth. Very rarely they will ask to see evidence at the interview. Whatever you haven't sent with the petition, send when your case gets to NVC. Then everything will get sent to the embassy in Lagos before you sit down for your interview. Spouses are not allowed into the interview, but I've read some rare situations where they have asked to talk with the USC. But even them knowing that she's there (outside waiting) will be a bonus. You could take her passport inside to show them proof of that. Send all chat logs, phone calls, etc. To offset the age gap, your best bet at getting approved is face time. The more time she can spend with you there, the better. It's good that she added you to insurance policies and things like that, you're doing all the right things...I don't believe in things "being in God's hands"...it is all in YOUR hands and how you present your relationship. I wish you both the best!!

doc intake at NVC - not a problem.

Visa Interview in Lagos - big problem, as you fit the pattern of visa scammers, prior.

Sorry.

It is always a plus to have your spouse at interview. When CO see's the passport they know. So yes I say she should be their for interview.

And please stop focusing so much on how she looks. The CO could care less. Ugly people have bonafide relationships also you know. They want to see a relationship between two people.

Also everything at interview rests on you. Your evidence has gone before you. The CO already has an opinion of you good or bad. You need to be confident and on point for your interview. If asked questions be percise and unwavering and unnerved with your responses. Many a interview have been sunk because people were undecisive, too nervous and just couldn't recall (it happens). Doesn't mean they fake or scammers (we really use that word wrong too much...but I digress).

This is no more than a job interview. And you know with that kind of interview you put your best foot forward, look them in the eye and know your stuff. The CO could very well ask you questions out of nowhere that has nothing to do with nothing just to trip you up and confuse you. Don't be moved. Know what you know and you will be fine. Confidence is the name of the game. It is well.

You don't like my words to you? Ok dokie !!!!

This was the question I was answering:

My question is due to the age gap between us will this cause a problem for the USCIS processing and the nvc, interview at the embassy.

It's on you and yer lass to overcome the prior pattern. You aren't responsible for the prior pattern, but you have to do more stuff because of the prior pattern.

I disagree, and that's ok. Apologies you put some tone into what I wrote, though.
