Does anyone know if the petitioner has to escort his/her fiancee into the United States? Are they allowed to enter the States alone? Also, does anyone have any idea as to how to go about the I-134 if the interview is scheduled after February in 2007? Should the form be redone with 2006 w-2's? I know one doesnt have to file taxed legally until April 15th.

Your questions are good ones - my understanding is this :

1.) they could fly alone - but i am trying to avoid that scenrio

2.) I plan to update my I-134 with 2006 tax statements & file early.

Ridejewel --- It would be nice if you could escort your fiance on her very first journey to the US soil. It would be a great experience. However, it is not required. If you are concerned about her being lost and all, you could contact the IOM office in Saigon so they can arrange for someone to meet her at POE and assist her with Custom and Immigration. They charge a very moderate fee (about 80 bucks) but it is worth it. Trust me. They can also book tickets for her there. Concerning your question about redoing I-134, I do not think you have to do it. The interview is going to take place in February while deadline for filling income tax will not be due until April. So, you are good there. Good luck

I used to be indecisive. Now I am just not sure ...

I'm hoping to escort her, Ive actually been in Viet Nam with her since September 7th of 2006, it's just that my Visa's going to run up on March 6th and renewing it isnt an option unless I leave the country. Plus that my returning flight expires that same day and the funds are not availuable to purchase both her ticket and a new one for me. I'm sure her interview will be before March 6th, I just wanted to be sure that if it wasnt that things would still be okay. That's a good idea with the IOM if need be...thanks.

I'm not very experienced in this, but it makes sense to me if you bring 2006 W2's and, if available, months of the most recent paystubs to the interview.

It's okay for your fiancee to travel alone. While it's nice to accompany her to the US, don't worry too much if you can't make it happen. It helps if she knows a little English (my fiancee traveled to the US alone when she came here on a work visa), but if not, I guess IOM can help provide some peace of mind for both of you.

Hi! Im newbie here and want to make a comments, I hope Im welcome!

For me, it depends on your plan together. If you like to pick up your fiancee from her country it will be ok, at least she will not get worried to fly alone if it is her first time, but if you just want to wait for her at the US airport, it will be just ok.
