Today the case status has been updated :D Got the text!

"On December 17, 2013, we ordered production of your new card. Please allow 30 days for your card to be mailed to you. If we need something from you we will contact you."

Ha! :)

Congrats! smile.png That's awesome!!!! Did your online case status update? Or did you just receive the approval letter in the mail?

ROC Journey:

4/24/13 - Submitted I-751 application

4/26/13 - I-751 officially filed

6/11/13 - Biometrics done

8/14/13 - Rec'd RFE

9/21/13 - Submitted RFE response

9/23/13 - RFE response rec'd at VSC

(about 2 months later)

11/21/13 - Service request via Tier 1 submitted

12/11/13 - Response to service request rec'd - vague info about processing times

12/12/13 - Service request via Tier 2 submitted

12/10/13 - APPROVED!!! (letter rec'd 12/14/13)

12/16/13 - 2nd Service request response rec'd

12/17/13 - Card production email/text rec'd (online case updated)!

12/24/13 - Notification rec'd via email regarding card mailed on 12/23/13 (online case updated as well)

12/26/13 - 10-yr card rec'd!

One thing I have learned on this journey:

There is no such thing as an "overkill" evidence package. Submit anything and everything you can. Who knows what will prevent you from getting an RFE.

I guess you have to send photographs as proof as well with the package...2 to 3 years would be generate a lot of photos...do they accept CD's with the pics on them or do you have to send hundreds of printed photos? What a huge load that would be lol!

I only submitted a handful - I probably submitted a dozen of printed photos between my initial and RFE responses. And then I attached them as the last item in my package - it's one of the those evidences that hold the least weight but it's still worth it to submit.

No CDs unfortunately, they have to be printed.

So it's NOT A MUST to submit photos? So why do people get RFE's if they've sent almost every single shred of paperwork that shows co-mingling with their spouse?!

That is a question I've been asking myself ever since I got an RFE in August LOL. Unfortunately, how your adjudicator reviews your case is beyond anyone's control - they decide if your evidence is sufficient. There was one case I read on here that received both an RFE and an interview. When the couple went to the interview (after like a year after they submitted for ROC) they were told that they should never have rec'd an RFE because they had solid evidences. Who knows why.

So, a very hard question to answer. I just responded my RFE with everything else under the sun - not including stuff I already submitted. Even if with stuff that don't seem important.

So it's NOT A MUST to submit photos? So why do people get RFE's if they've sent almost every single shred of paperwork that shows co-mingling with their spouse?!

Because a lot of the time every single shred of evidence that is sent is still not what they're looking for. They mainly want to see financial co-mingling over anything else, because if one is willing to put their money on the line, then the relationship is more than likely legit. That means joint tax returns, joint credit cards, joint ownership of property, joint bank account, etc. It amazes how many people have been married for two years and have accumulated little to none of this evidence. They think they can send a copy of the electric bill with both names on it, a few pics, and copy of a plane ticket from a trip and that will be sufficient.

Ahhh now I understand. I've read on several posts here that that's what's sent in and I assumed that's how it should be done but those same people always get RFE's! We file for ROC next year but we want to have everything ready by June so as to not panic when the time comes to file the paperwork. So far we have:

1. A joint bank account. This is the one we use to pay for everything.

2. The lease expires in March but we will renew with our landlord and my name will be added to it.

3. We own a property together.

4. Joint tax returns.

5. Life insurance policy with me listed as a beneficiary.

6. Pics

7. Travel itenirary

Would this be enough? Or do we need to accumilate more evidence? Also does everyone get interviewed?

Yes, that is very good. See if you can get a joint credit card too. Don't forget copies of both drivers licenses showing the same address and a copy of the beneficiary's passport and gc (front & back).

You're well on your way. It's so much easier and better for evidence to USCIS if you start to accumulate these things in the beginning of the marriage.

Oh yeah we will include a copy of my GC I was only listing the evidence of co-mingling. Thanks for the DL tip..I missed that one.

For the joint credit card...how do you mean? With the joint bank account we each have our own credit card but the money is taken from the same account..is this the same thing?

Anyone coming to the US on a CR1 visa should know what is required of them and should start accumilating the required evidence from day one and not a month prior to filing ROC.

I figured you knew about the copy of gc and passport, but it doesn't hurt to mention it. Do either of you have a separate credit card besides your bank account? Like a Mastercard, Visa or store card? If so, have the other put on the card as an authorized user or joint applicant if possible. As an authorized user you will receive an identical credit card and can send a copy of both cards showing that you share that account. Depending on your credit rating, you may be able to get added on as a joint applicant, then you are also responsible for paying the bill and your name will appear on the statement along with his. Then you can send copies of the statement as well.

You're welcome. smile.png

Joint auto insurance and health insurance policies are also good.

It's easy to assume that some people who got RFE's only submitted the following. It's not even questionable for anyone who gets an RFE when they only submitted these.

They think they can send a copy of the electric bill with both names on it, a few pics, and copy of a plane ticket from a trip and that will be sufficient.

The question is on those that do get an RFE even after they submitted strong evidences (i.e. bank account statements, proof of cohabitation etc etc). It's easy to make a general assumption that everyone who submits strong evidences will NOT get an RFE. But that's not always true because there will be something missing in someone's package that an adjudicator will look for that the couple will deem unnecessary. What is sufficient to one adjudicator is not sufficient to another.

There are MANY reasons why anyone gets an RFE but unfortunately most that look for help regarding RFEs are those that never submitted sufficient evidence to begin with. We can't overlook the special cases.

ROC Journey:

4/24/13 - Submitted I-751 application

4/26/13 - I-751 officially filed

6/11/13 - Biometrics done

8/14/13 - Rec'd RFE

9/21/13 - Submitted RFE response

9/23/13 - RFE response rec'd at VSC

(about 2 months later)

11/21/13 - Service request via Tier 1 submitted

12/11/13 - Response to service request rec'd - vague info about processing times

12/12/13 - Service request via Tier 2 submitted

12/10/13 - APPROVED!!! (letter rec'd 12/14/13)
