Can You Attend School After K-1 Entry Before AOS?

I know someone on a K-1 cannot work until they get their work papers in the AOS process, but can they sign up for a course at a local school such as a community college so they have something to do in the meantime, or is that some sort of no-no visa violation? Thanks!

Sure, you can sign up and attend.

The tuition rate MIGHT be higher, and the registrar will question the validity of yer existence in the USA without having a green card or student visa, but absolutely you can do this.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

You may be able to take a class at the community college. It will depend on whether the school will accept you without a green card or a student visa.

It is not a violation of immigration law for you to attend classes while adjusting.

Likely not a problem. However, you may be admitted as an international student, subject to higher tuition rates and fees.

Completed: K1/K2 (271 days) - AOS/EAD/AP (134 days) - ROC (279 days)

Good idea! Joan started taking English as a Second Language classes at local community adult school four days after she arrived on K1. No problems!
