My fiancee and her 7 year old daughter were approved for K1 & K2 Visa on the morning of December 9, 2013, at the US Embassy in Lima, Peru. Does anyone have experience or knowledge of how long it usually takes to actually receive the necessary documents via DHL? We are desperately trying to determine when we can book the flights so she can arrive before Christmas while watching the rates go up and up into the stratosphere.

Right from your countries portal. You should book when you get Visa in had don't take anything for granted.

Visa issued same day? No ball.gif If not whats the waiting period? Less than one week. Visa is processed at Embassy and sent via DHL. You must pre-register with DHL before your interview, via this link: http://usvisa-info.com/en-PE/selfservice/us_immigrant_visas

Hi, my wife had her interview on December 3,2013 at Embassy in Lima and we picked up her passport and the pack to take to the US on monday morning December 9th, Merry Christmas

It seems that there have been a few surprises in this whole process. Thanks for the heads up, Angucast! I have not heard anything about that charge. Has anyone else?

My fiancee's appointment was Monday morning, December 9. This Friday, December 13, we received an email notice about the visa package but have not been able to contact DHL yet. However, the email notice only mentions her 7 year old daughter and passport number. It says nothing about the mother. Does anyone know about this kind of situation? We have no idea if there was a visa problem for the mother or they just selected one to send the notice about but both packages are there.

Does anyone know about the additional $165 per son charge to activate the visa after receiving visa documents at DHL?

Also, be warned. I was told when making flight reservations that my fiancee had to prove that she has the funds for a return ticket when booking a one-way ticket to the US!
