I disagree.

This person actually seems grounded in the reality of the process.

the reality of the process for the OP is that they are beyond normal processing times, almost 12 months since noa1 with nothing. The reality is she filed long before most in this forum, many people who have filed after her and are approved and already have their visas, or at least at interview stage. The reality is she should expect to at least have an answer as to why no one has even looked at their case almost a year later. It isn't liked she filed yesterday and wants an expedite, she wants answers, I don't blame her.

Just a positive word for using a lawyer. After adding up our options we chose to use an immigration lawyer and are very happy we have. True, while they cannot speed up a backlogged government system, we are finding the added support of our lawyer well worth the cost, it has taken a lot of stress off of ourselves and our lawyer is very knowledgeable, efficient and always responds in a very timely way. :D

In my state, they don't do it based on something being in writing either. Did that. Still have gotten 0 help from them.

That.s right...so you can imagine they will do even less without some kind of paper trail.

Thank you for your compassion, as long as there are people like you in this world, I will still have faith in humanity. Like the saying goes... "There's always one!"

No need to thank :) but thank you for acknowledging. This whole process is tricky and sucks and you have to be VERY lucky to not have at least one part of the process that you feel like there is no way out of or no way to resolve. Mine came about 2/3 weeks ago and whilst it wasn't the same as yours, it was equally as frustrating and 'lost cause' worthy. But then, SOMETHING, something just clicks and your figure it out. Because you have to, you work so hard for this and to be together. You make it your priority and give it he'll, give it everything you've got and you will work it out and come through the other end! And as cliché as it sounds, it makes it feel sooo much more accomplished when you do crack it. Almost as good as when the process is over and you are together I'd imagine. Although I'm still just waiting for my interview now so nothing I can do to speed that up. Almost there though, just got to keep reminding.

I wish you all the luck in the world, I have no doubt you will have your "eureka" moment soon :) I'm just sorry I can't offer any advise for your predicament.

Thanks for your advice. I have contacted the lawyer but never received a call, in her email she did sound alarmed that it was pending almost a year now with only a NOA1... so she just wanted to sit down with me. I have set an appointment for an infopass on Monday, figured I'd sacrifice half a days pay from work vice contributing to a lawyers vacation fund, as one user so smuggly put it. Thanks again, your support is greatly appreciated.

No problem Mari. I am glad to hear you have an info pass appointment on Monday, I think it is the best next step for you, at least you will be able to talk to another human face to face. Please let me know how it goes, and contact me if you need me for anything, if only just for moral support. We Jordanians have to stick together, especially since there are so few of us here on VJ.

I agree.

You're a good man with a big heart, Gowan. I am so happy that your journey had a happy ending after your unfortunate denial first go round. You are an asset to the VJ community!

Are you kidding me? Did you even read the thread or at the OP's timeline? She received her noa1 almost 12 months ago. She is outside normal processing times for their type of petition and she certainly isn't looking to be, as you so rudely stated to be "put in ahead of everyone else". She has every right to know why after almost an entire year, she still only has noa1. She wasn't, as you stated once again "threatening all this legal action", she stated that she was going to seek legal advice from an attorney that her employer provides free of charge. Although at this point there is little a lawyer can do for her, it never hurts to ask. I will never understand why some people on this site feel the need to attack other members who are seeking advice, or just the kind ear of others for a little empathy and perhaps some understanding. This place is becoming nothing but a bunch of people causing unneeded drama and giving cruel personal opinions. The immigration process from start to finish, no matter how long or fast it takes, is stressful for all of us. Why can't people just simply support each other instead of attacking like a bunch of high schoolers?

the above post returned to viewing without the quote, which was removed.

numerous posts also removed for creating/stirring drama, off topic discussion, and so on.

if one has nothing beneficial to add to the topic, do not post. thread bans or worse can follow.

So I contacted the USCIS they sent out a "Service Request" no more than 48hrs later I got a letter from the Newark local office reiterating that the case is still pending consideration and they regret they are unable to give me a timeframe. Although they stated that they are processing February cases at this point at USCIS, I find its a big load of horse manure that they for one second moved their slothy behinds to even look for the case to begin with. I am FED UP and I don't care who I have to hire, thankfully I have a Legal Plan with my company, I am turning to an immigration lawyer this is unacceptable and I am at my wits end!!!!

Just wanted to give you some helpful info I went on 2 info passes before I was approved.

what im about to say is not meant to get you down. on my 1st info pass the USCIS told me

my file was lost that it couldn't be found and they told me to mail certain documents back in

and the guy would adjudicate my case so I did what he said and waited 3 weeks and nothing

happened so I made another info pass and my lawyer told me to make a copy of my intire

petition and take with me as a back up. So that's what I did but my second info pass went well

the immigration officer took the time to really look for my original file and found it. I was approved

the next day. so I would like to suggest making a copy of your petition and carry with you on your

info pass.

Wish you luck
