Oh how it feels good! Now I can join the many other fellows to enjoy the benefit of having my family by my side. I want to say a BIG thank you to all of you visajourners. Your posts and responses to my many question helped make it to this day. My mom's visa interview was scheduled for November 27, 2013. I flew to Haiti to be with her at the interview. It was a great experience! First off, I surprised my mom because she did not know I was going to come because I'm currently in college and would not be on vacation until december 13. The interview went smoothly! I could not ask for anything better. The IO smile with us throughout the interview and allowed me to stay with mom while he was interviewing her. He asked us 2-3 very basic questions. He said that everything looks good. He reached for my mom's passport and attached the small card to it, indication that he approves the case. Lastly, he told my mom to be careful, then my mom says yes. Then he said you know why I told you to be careful? Because there is something called SNOW in Chicago! That was hilarious! Then he directed us where to go to pay the visa fee and wished my mom a safe trip! On December 3, I checked the ceac.state.gov website and it showed that the status of the visa was "Issued" with a little note stating that the visa was printed and to follow direction given for pick up. My mom's visa was scheduled to be picked up on Thursday, December 5, 2013. However, when she went to Haiti messager the passport has not yet arrived. They gave her an website address to check when the passport arrives. I checked that same Thursday night and it showed that the passport has arrived. My mom went the next day Friday to pick it up. We then learned about another fee that needs to be paid. I got furious because I did not know about it. I researched about it and found out that it is a legitimate fee claimed by USCIS for production of the green card. I paid it online the same day. I have made the promise to my mom to fly her FIRST CLASS to Chicago. I keep my promise. I also reserved an extended limousine to pick us up at the airport! All thanks to my creator God. He who strengthened me. To all of you in still in the journey I pray hope, courage and blessings. My siblings are next!
