HEY whats up guys ! if the two people are truely madly inlove and happy inspite of thier big age gap then i cant see having problem with that !

are you guys are happy with your relastionship to your girlfriend / spouse ???? if no, then that is a big issue and a big problem that needed to discuss and must be solve....

If you stay around VJ long enough you'll quickly see threads like this frequently. The "hot button" issues. Some people ask a genuine question and it starts a flame war. Then there are those who ask questions to purposefully (IMHO) incite a flame war.

Take your pick on this one. :)

I think that's the key. Personally I don't care what ignorant or prejudiced people say to me. However, if someone disrespects my fiancee or gives her an "attitude" about our age difference, well we probably won't be spending much time with them, and it's their loss. :)

Gary, you've been on this site long enough to know that off topic will go all over the place. I can't imagine why you think you have the right on a public forum to dictate 26 pages of other people's responses. All in all, it's been pretty ON topic for the most part; something that doesn't happen often at that page level.

If all you wanted were canned comments to your 3 all important questions (which, by the way, several people have answered and you barely replied to them to further the discussion yourself), post a poll.

Either that or resign yourself to the reality of message boards and the fact that you can't control all aspects of one unless you own it and regulate the membership yourself.

:P

I disagree. I don't think I have the right to dictate other people's responses, but since I am the OP I think I get to complain the loudest if it's off-topic. So take your uninvited lecture and stuff it!

IOW, It's Gary's party; he'll cry if he wants to.

And cry he does, huh? ;)

Funny how the comment above is about 'complaining' when just a few short pages ago he was calling for the thread's closure because no one was playing to his tune.

Oh well, apparently my "lecture" is to be stuffed. Probably cuz it was again off-topic.

So if you can't come up with anything intelligent to contribute so you just attack the OP, heh? :bonk:

Actually, there was no attack on my side of it. Mine was more in the line of friendly advice on a message board, which you obviously didn't want or need. That happens, and I'm really okay with that.

You had the opportunity to ignore it, or to ask me nicely to butt out, or any number of other reasonable adult behaviors. Instead, you decided to "attack" me and tell me to stuff it. Fair enough. Did you notice that I didn't reply to that? There was no real point to be made once you'd decided that my unsolicited advice was #######, but I did indulge in replying to Alex, because frankly she made me laugh (Go Alex Go!). That really has nothing to do with you, despite it being on "your" thread, which is kind of what I was describing how people will post as they wish on public forums and there's no real way to control that except to admin/moderate your own board.

Now we have you attempting to insult my intelligence. I have plenty to contribute and would do so if I thought there was any chance of a reasonable DIALOG on this thread. You haven't thus far responded in any meaningful way to the people that take the time to answer, so why would I bother?

(BTW, please note that my intelligence or your take on my lack thereof, is really not the topic at hand, right? My all means, let's not deviate from the topic...)

Now for my contribution to your thread. :star: It's intelligent and meaningful in assisting you to reach the goal you want: staying on topic. It's no skin off my nose if you take it, leave it, or print it out and wipe your butt with it. You don't even need to tell me off at the end, as I doubt I'll be back on this thread...back to work tomorrow!

Conversation is an art and most adults don't march to the beat of one drummer. I suggest that if you want very specific answers and don't want free form conversation (which a lot of it has been) then a poll would be more appropriate. Or, sometimes you have to draw people out to receive answers and that means actually attempting to communicate in a variety of ways. Which means not focusing on all of us who haven't answered the 3 questions, but spending the time encouraging actual discussion on the topic itself (not the BACK TO TOPIC icon and 3 questions reposted ad nauseum).

There you go, more unsolicited and probably-deemed unintelligent advice. :)

I see, you didn't contribute anything because you thought there was no chance of a reasonable DIALOG on this thread, so you decided to take another approach. Now I get it! Thanks!

Sheesh, some people.

:ot2:

Do you and your fiance(e) have a large age difference?

Did you get any bad reactions from family or friends, or anyone else?

If so, what did you do, make a joke of it, insult them back, get mad, or what?

;)

After all these posts do you think maybe, just maybe that anyone with an age difference has already responded? So there is nothing left to beat but a dead horse.

But on the far chance anyone missed my 'on topic' answer, here it is again:

Yes

No

Not applicable
