Do you and your fiance(e) have a large age difference?

Sweetie, you've had more than enough popcorn. Try cookies. :P

To answer the question, we're both octagenarians. No problems here except some indigestion.

So was the original question asked to find some support on the subject, find those in a common situation, or stir up an argument (or a bit of each)?

And if it was the latter, why was the Instigator of the Post not consulted first? I think these young whippersnappers should definitely step into line a little better, don't you Tracy?

Yes indeedy!

oh, i think age doesnt matter, hey guys, dont judge anyone with just what you think and just because of a certain age gap, there are really kind of people that feel much comfortable with an older man specially when they truly love each other. Some maybe has no good intentions but im pretty sure there are couples which has big age difference that really love each other and will surely succeed with their marriage, i've known alot of couple like that and they are very happy now being together , i hope it wont be one of the ground that the embassy will look for visa denial..if so, then alot will surely get denied!!!

hi to all!!! im just new to this site and im glad i find this interesting and i got lots of infos here!!! just reading to some members posts then i got ideas about certain questions that i have..this is really cool!!! good luck to all your journey..ciao!!!

The reason they probably scrutinize more closely couples with large age differences is probably because it's against nature. Humans aren't wired to want to sleep with grandpa or grandma.

Not to say there aren't many perfectly happy and legitimate relationships of people with large age differences. It's just not as common to see someone 22 love someone 65 without ulterior motives.

Especially when they come from countries such as the Phillipines, Africa & South America do you not think?

I would say it's not so much about the country itself, but more about the financial position of the beneficiary.

I would agree with that.......

Jasman0717, i totally agree with you!!! my fiancee is 22 years older than me but i am surely, definitely, honestly crazy inlove with him!!! i find my man much more responsible, with very good humor and has certainly much more experience in life that can help us in obtaining a successful happy marriage and a wonderful family.. i find him so much better than any younger man out there and i cant exchange him for that!.I believe in fate and destiny, they brought us together! when you love someone theres nothing you can see but his heart that is pure and his love that is true..

First I just linked to the end of thread...I'm not pointing fingers at the qouter here....

I'm 19 years older then Veronica... But she is diffently the older and wiser one..

We talked about this again yesterday... She told me her mom recently told her that she has always been attracted to older men.. Veronica now claims She got this from her mom....

Honestly... The only people worried about it are the ones that have a problem with it... And of course they want to push their idea's and opinions down the throats of others.. that aren't worried about it......

It's like at school...come be my friend so I will feel important..

I understand the desire of a person ...new to all this to try to figure out why a beautiful young woman would be attracted to them.. and wanted to know because they aren't sure it's not a scammer.. But for others..to chime it about whats right and wrong...isn't cool...Whats wrong or right here in the states might be right or wrong somewhere else.. At least put a disclaimer at the end of your opinion.. "IMHO"

Love has no Boundries...if both parties knows the score...

So was the original question asked to find some support on the subject, find those in a common situation, or stir up an argument (or a bit of each)?

I posted the topic because it's an area of interest of mine since I do have a large age difference with my fiance and I like to hear an intelligent discussion from others in the same situation.

That's fair enough - but a lot to expect from a message board, I'm afraid!

Left off on pg 7 last nite but have been thinking some on this issue. How many of the ones that sent replys fit this situation and how many are just expressing their opinions? A opinion is only that, affects no one, if your not in his situation why in the world would you care? Its kinda like saying (xyz) have your been there or tried it? no then how in the world would you know? what are you baseing your views? Go to (xyz) or try it then come back tell what you feel or have learned. One of the worst things is to say I will Never because how many times do people have to eat those words down the line sometime. Maybe not now your not in this situation but one day.........

Obviously if you have found yourself to be a member of VisaJourney.com Your Family Immigration Community, then you have shown that stereotypes are not going to stop you from pursuing your happiness.

We all stereotype. Who gives a #######. Its included in the package with marrying a foreigner.

Brush it off.

Your so right...

The problem with people sterotyping is that it stems from "Mail Order Bride" and She is only marrying him for his money.. and this all stems from the past...what you hear when your growing up(parents..media..etc.,)...You begin to be a follower in your thinking.. You accept and bend to conform to others idea's just to fit in...

March to your own Beat... If you can still find it..

To me, an age gap is far less worrying than a large power gap or a pack of other prejudices.. I've been attracted, at age 27, to men in their early forties, but it's been to men who are in a similar position to me career-wise (i.e., junior faculty vs. grad. student.) It's not really icky once you're past college, because you meet a lot more people, and the older you get, the more they're all about the same anyway.

But.... when it's someone who wants their bride to be subservient, is hoping to keep her financially dependent, and generalizes ('X women all do this') or talks about their bride like she's an iPod or other expensive purchase. ('How do you keep your bride from Americanizing? I hope you're happy with your bride like I am with mine!' Might as well be 'How did you get iTunes to work?' You almost expect 'Did she come with a warranty?') But that just means I don't like jackas$es... nothing to do with age gaps there.

There is some correlation between age gaps and fraud, but that's not the fault of the American's intentions, in most cases.

LOL!

I'm 4 yrs older than my husband and have either gotten "cradle robber" or "you go girl!" from friends and acquaintences. I believe the cradle robber comment was a joke.

I am almost two years older than my husband. Some of my friends have made the "robbing the cradle" joke. But it doesn't bother me because I'm pretty sure they're just joking around.
