NOA2 to NVC is pretty frustrating at this point

Good Afternoon Everyone,

My fiancé and I are still waiting for the NVC to 'receive' our approved K-1 petition, which was approved on October 18th. I have been calling patiently all through November, with no luck in getting a case number. The agents kept telling me that it takes up to 8 weeks to receive the petition. It's been about 8 weeks and still no case number. I don't understand why this step is taking so long. Anyway, I called the NVC today and the agent asked me what my letter says. I told her exactly as it read, "The above petition has been approved and forward to the listed consulate." She then tells me that I have to call the consulate and find out what's going on. Is that true? That goes against everything I've heard about this process so far. Has anyone here waited longer than 8 weeks to receive your case number? I realize I'm at the 8 week mark, but I'm starting to get really worried.

Thank you for your advice,

Andrea

Probably about the 8 week mark or so for me :( I'd stick it out a little longer. There's always conflicting information. Give it until this time next week then do what you can to chase it up. I thought it would be literally a two week process for that part. Maaaan was I wrong!

I don't think that's true. Everything I have read says it will go to NVC before it is sent to the consulate.

My letter said it was 'approved and forward to the listed consulate'.

I called the NVC today and they receive my approved petition but now they have to enter it into there computer system and they person that answered the phone said that would talk 4 to 8 weeks before they can give my a case number.

I think they tell everyone 4 to 8 weeks.

Who knows what really happens until you are done with the whole process.

if it was sent to the consulate, i doubt it would take 8 weeks for them to receive it. just the same, call the consulate and find out if it was true. but basing on the time it takes for you to get your case number, im guessing it was really sent to NVC, your service center just held on it for a bit to send them out in bulks.

The same thing happens to us!!!! We also received the approved petition notice on November 7:

"The above petition has been approved, and forwarded to the listed consulate.."

Then on December 05 we received another notification that reads:

"On December 5, 2013, we shipped this approved or re-affirmed case to the Department of State for visa processing. For more information, please contact them directly."

We called the NVC and they are also giving the same answer:

"You need to wait 8 weeks......"

We are confused and without a case number we can't trace it.... It is really frustrating!!! crying.gifcray5ol.gif

You can call and ask for a Tier 2 immigration officer and then ask them to locate your physical file. If it's still at the service center I would ask them to put in a service request.

After you get notification that your file has been shipped, I would wait 10-ish days to call the NVC. Mine was shipped Nov 6 and I had my case number by Nov 15.

The files always go to the NVC for processing before being forwarded to the consulate.

Hello!

We got the same letter before but we still contacted NVC. Of course, we were given the standard 8 week spiel. From that point on, we just contacted the Department of State instead. Little to no waiting time plus everyone seemed more knowledgeable and helpful. Hope you get some great news very soon...
