Hi guys I know it's should be formal clothes but there are many kind of formal clothes. Can you please upload a proper outfit for the interview?I just wanna make sure everything is appropriate for us.Example of formal wear for men and women. The reason I asked is because Philippines is too warm and I don't think long sleeves or black coat is gonna be comfortable for everyone who will need to stand in line for a long time.

Thanks in advance.

Something that you will wear to a job interview. Heck you can even wear a shirt and jeans. As long as it doesn't have that torn look and you are presentable and clean.

that sounds easy and simple. But I think if they said formal clothing it should be formal'.ofcourse they won't tell you to ####### off if you show up with clean clothes and your body is full covered.Just my opinion.I just always follow the exact guidelines when it comes to things like this.

as long as you won't show up naked you should be fine LOL! I don't wanna wear anything too formal (dress pants, button down shirt and coat). I'll go for smart casual and minimal makeup (neutral eyeshadows and no red lip!).

I don't recall seeing any guidelines or rules on the embassy website or the instruction letters they send out so it all depends on your discretion and how you want your interviewers impression of you to be. What matters is you're comfortable and you feel confident in what you wear.

Business casual would be appropriate.

My wife wore jeans and a nice blouse. You don't have to get all dressed up for the interview, just wear something nice, not flashy

Me? I was wearing a T-shirt and shorts.... :) ... after all it gets warm in the Phils!!

Anything respectful will probably work just fine, but if you want the best possible chance of success, a dress or skirt and blouse for the ladies and jacket and tie for the men would be the best choice.

Chances are you won't need to go that extreme, but in a close case it just may put you over the top. And the worst possible result is that you put nice clothes on for nothing, a very small loss considering the potential gain.

I wore a pencil skirt (knee length), long sleeves blouse with breathable fabric aka thin bit not see through, and 3in heels and I felt overdressed. Haha! The interviewer would talk to you waist and up on a booth. He/she won't see you waist and down except for when you are walking towards the booth. If I had known, I would have worn the same pencil skirt, same long sleeved blouse but with rolled sleeves, and an inch booties or 2 in heels. Substitute the skirt for skinny jeans (blue or black) and you are good to go. This guideline for me is more a fashion statement and not for the interview. Just look your best casual. :)

Smart casual is fine. I wore a knee length cotton dress and a cardigan. I mostly wear stilletos but during the interview, I didn't feel the need to do so and just opted for flats.

For guys, I saw most of them were wearing jeans and short sleeve collared/buttoned shirts.

Goodluck!

The first impression is the lasting impression. I don't think any of us, from those who wore shorts or jeans to those who wore a skirt and blouse were declined. Best to dress in the middle of the pack and that is usually business casual. Nice but not to nice as well as comfortable but not too comfortable. For me, I wore a polo shirt with khaki slacks with laced shoes and my fiance and her daughter were wearing a dress or skirt and both felt good, not to dressy but not uncomfortable.

Good luck with your interview.

There is really no "exact guidelines" as to what to wear for the USEM interview. I wonder wear you got that from, sis? rolleyes.gif

As most have stated above, smart/ business casual would do just fine. Good example is what sis iammrsregi shared, "wear something that you would wear in a job interview". Also, comfortable yet presentable are the keywords. Don't wear something that might make you feel uneasy walking around and standing (Hint: The consuls won't see your high heels and the rest of the applicants won't notice it unless you're walking in an unusual way wink.png ). I wore a buttoned blouse, black plants and black flats. Worked great for me as this is what I normally wear at work. Some applicants wore blazers. If you easily feel cold, you might need one too or maybe a cardigan would help when inside the waiting room, but of which something I don't really advise to be worn while waiting outside USEM.

Good luck sis and also, don't forget to wear your best smile! good.gif

Sweet Cakes - Good recommendations. You reference to wearing the smile was spot on. biggrin.png Also, when in front of the CO be confident with your answers. Show your enthusiasm to be with your fiancée.

BTW Sweet Cakes. I lived near Basking Ridge..... ohh what a beautiful area you will be living in. Rolling hills, lots of trees and many horse farms. Good luck
