Hi guys,

I am a Dec filer, here is some advice to save you up to 60 days during NVC process.

After you get the approval, and get your case number, before DS 261 is made available, strongly consider getting a lawyer for a short time.

Two packages for NVC process AOS & IV package have separate fees, for non lawyers there can be a gap of 60 days between two invoices. With a lawyer, both fees are invoiced at same time towards the beginning.

After you pay your fees, you will likely no longer need them and can prepare everything on your own.

It will cost probably $400, but I think it is worth it to save 60 days.

Hi there! Yes, this is completely right! If someone had told me, our suffering at NVC would be less..they're back logged now, and what once was solved in a month, now it's taking 3 in average! :(

Good luck to all the ones waiting on USCIS..NVC isn't a smoother ocean right now though. :(

So how exactly do I do this? How do I tell NVC that I've gotten a lawyer after USCIS shipped my case? I'm very interested. My case is still at Nebraska since Dec 2013. Thanks! Edited by audr3yz

Your lawyer will submit form g28 to nvc.

Wait for NOA2, once received, call nvc as per nvc wiki until they receive it, in the mean time do you research on an attorney, and once he/she become your case representative, and both AOS and IV invoices are available, pay both print and save receipts. And proceed with rest of process.

In 13 days its 9 months for us :( Never have I ever believed this process would be delayed to this extent. I was so happy when I saw processing times at USCIS adjusted from 9 months to 5 months back in October 2013. But here we are, almost 9 months later, and nothing has happened. With the backlogs at NVC we are probably still looking at 4-6 months for an interview after we get our NOA2.

It is heartbreaking and very stressful :(
