we were approved in 3 months IIRC so one would think that this time around security checks (if any) would be a piece of cake .....right!

what i was referring to was,

i filed for a k1 in 2012 and got it....visa in passport but I cancelled it before the 6 months, visa is stamped cancelled without prejudice. one would think that if I made it through the k1 process once (with the same mate) this time the processing and wait would be a bit shorter because they have everything on us make sense???

our i129 was approved but our waivers were not (after the embassy stage).

so logic would lead to think that uscis knowing already about us, having done all the checks already, things would go quick this time around.

at the same time, nanana has never been dealing with uscis and has been waiting since early december 2013.

Same situation here as you california_luv. I129 approve but waiver needed at embassy stage, but could only qualify for waiver if married, so our reason for filing I130; however this was in 2012, but I129f never closed still show open according to tier 2, so I don't know how long this process would take. On the otherhand as you stated nanana has never dealt with USCIS and there status is the same as ours. So there is just know telling what is going on, but am keeping my faith up for all of us.

That is your logic...

USCIS logic is to deeply analyze that case which has already a petition in past, and that deep analysis will be done by supervisor who is a very BUSY person, so delayssssssssssssssssssssssss happen

And as far as nanana's case is concerned, as i told already, this could be the one of many reasons case goes to additional review.

Security Checks have expiry dates, even if your case is in process and gets delayed (like because of RFE) there are chances that your security checks expire, visa officer need to perform those security checks again before making final decision.

And you are talking about old 2012 K1, sure security checks need to be performed again, and the other thing additional review because you had an old petition...

Here we are talking about what are the reasons cases go in additional review.

One of those reason we or you can say I found out can be...

If you have previous finished or unfinished business with USCIS for exmaple a K1 Visa or F2A petition, then there are great chances that you will get additional review.

Other factors can also cause additional review but we are unaware of those. We are excluding security checks from additional review because every time a security check is pending, one gets email stating explicitly "Delay because of pending security checks".

I still can not get enough evidences to prove that Filling i-130 and i-129f at same time can cause additional review.

I've also filed for i-130, together with i-485, for my husband when he was here back in Feb 2013. Due to an urgent family issue, he had to go home and stay there for a while so we withdrew our application. Then we reapply for a stand alone i-130 in Dec 2013 when he was almost ready to come back to the US. It's been over 7 months now and I'm assuming that is the hold up.

Although they responded to my service request last Friday saying that all of my security checks havent cleared. All i can do at this point is wait...

Keep in mind my previous i129f was over ten (10!!) years ago. It was approved so it's not really "unfinished" business.

However you theory makes sense axs.

Not necessarily. There was a Q&A session page with ex USCIS officer on this site. I do not have the link at the moment. Anyway, according to him every issue with security check needs to be resolved by an additional review from a dedicated team that handles all that. He also mentioned that USCIS has a phrase library from where you can just add phrases to the letter or response you are sending out to petitioner. Which makes sense, since they cant honestly type out each and every single letter out of 1000s they send out every day. So with that theory, your case could be pending due to security check issues but a person who replied to your service request borrowed an "additional review" phrase from the library than a "security check" phrase. Just my 2 cents based on the facts I read from that Q&A session.
