JUST GOT APPROVED!!!!!! =D (PD December 23rd at Nebraska)

And my birthday is tomorrow, couldn't have asked for a better birthday gift.

Hello everyone,

Congratulations to those who were approved.

I received my rfe hardcopy. We sent an original marriage certificate which was issued in English with clearly stating that the marriage is registered at xyz place under xyz law and it also has seal of the marriage registar on it.

Even after sending this with other documents first time, we got request for initial evidence :

It says you did not submit the marriage certificate , please comply with following

Marriage certificate ( written in bold)

Submit the marriage certificate of Saumil (me) and my wife's name. An appropriate civil authority should issue the marriage certificate. In order for marriage to be considered valid for immigration purposes, it must have been registered with a civil authority from the location where the marriage took place. The document must contain seal of the issuing office including date of the registration and signature of the registrar.

If you submit a document in any language other than English, you must include a full English translation ( I BELIEVE WE DON'T NEED TO GET CERTIFICATE TRANSLATED IN OUR REGIONAL LANGUAGE, SINCE OUR CERT. WAS ISSUED IN ENGLISH, please confirm this ).

So what should i do now? We did submit an original certificate with seal,signature on it along with location and other things written in it.

Did they again ask for Original marriage certificate or only a copy of the marriage certificate?

They have not specified anything. They just want marriage certificate. Copies will work too as written in the last paragraph of rfe. I have attached a picture.

It doesnt make any sense why they would ask for it again , it would suck more if they just LOST it while handling

Did they again ask for Original marriage certificate or only a copy of the marriage certificate?

To get a regional translation of document issued in English, it don't make sense to me either and at the same time We are scared to assume anything at this point as they give only one chance to respond to rfe, this sucks !

well, there could be at least two reasons for the RFE. 1) They lost your cert or 2) they just wanna have at least a copy of it also in your native language. Which to me wouldn´t make any sense. When we got married, With our petition we sent an international marriage certificate, which is written in 3 languages, german, english and french.

I also had to submit my divorce decree which i had to get translated into english, but along with the translated one i mailed a copy of the original decree in german.

I would recommend you to just send it in again.

Since Marriage certificates issued in India have both English & Regional language printed on it, you don't have to submit a marriage certificate only in regional language...Just submit a copy of existing marriage certificate. Most likely, they would have misplaced the certificate you sent already and requesting again.

I just got off of the phone with USCIS and the lady was so nice to tell me that Nebraska Service Center is working December 3, 2013.

Just got of the phone with USCIS and OMGGGGGGGGGGG. the lady said they are still working on December 3......WHATTTTTTTTT.. are they doing over there ???? Seriously they are working for 12 days on december 3 cases ? No seriously ???

So we still can't file for an E-request.

Since Marriage certificates issued in India have both English & Regional language printed on it, you don't have to submit a marriage certificate only in regional language...Just submit a copy of existing marriage certificate. Most likely, they would have misplaced the certificate you sent already and requesting again.

Well, if the certificates are issued in both languages , then this probably wasn´t the problem. I also think they misplaced it, so just send it again.
