Sorry if everyone already knows but...why do u get a alien registration number (ARN) and does this happen prior to getting the NOA2? I have seen people getting a notification that the ARN changed and I don't know if it is dependant of the petitioner's status. I am a US citizen and filed for my wife and daughter and received notification of ARN changed on February 25, 2014 and over 3 months passed and no NOA2, so I don't know that it has anything to do with it. When I called USCIS and asked about it I was just told that it means someone is looking at your case, but don't know if to believe that.

I hope all December filers get their NOA2 very soon, I guess we should just keep the faith and be patient ;-)

I've been lurking around here for a while and finally set up an account to pass along the info I received from my attorney today.

Her paralegal put in a call to Nebraska for us (our PD is 12/5). Apparently the official processing date at Nebraska is still 12/3. Per the information from him, he can't put in a service request until that official date changes to later than our PD and the dates are only updated at the beginning of the month.

If I put out the kind of statistics the USCIS did (claiming a 5 month processing time when clearly it is over 6 months), I'd be opening myself up to considerable legal liability. I don't understand how USCIS gets away with it.
