Fees paid! Just wanted to let people know what I found out on a thread here about submitting tax forms, I did not claim my husband on my taxes this past year as I did not think it was relevant, but read that you could be denied based on that and found fraudulent so I am now going through the process to amend my 2013 taxes. For any of you still waiting and this pertains to you I would get on it as I am realizing I may have put our case back a month or so to deal with this, better safe than sorry. Keep your eyes on the prize people each day brings us closer to our loved ones.

Good point.... better safe than sorry. I actually remember that the Officer at the consulate during my wife's interview checked my taxes and verified that I filed my taxes as married since we got married on Nov 2013. I also read in another treat about this same thing so I also amended my taxes before the interview process. I initially submitted my taxes as single, but quickly corrected them and amended my taxes using turbo tax. I am sure if anyone submits their documents to NVC, they will check it there and also at the time of interview as well and it can cause unnecessary delays if not done right . :-)

J.

Congratulations!!!! What a long wait you had... good luck at NVC :-)

More good news...

We just got approved! I haven't felt this relieved in such a long time. To the rest of you waiting, don't lose your head; approval is coming soon.

Off to NVC!

Congrats!!!! God speed through NVC...

Day 298 dawns.... still no i-130 decision.

I am so frustrated with this whole process!

I spent FIVE AND A HALF HOURS yesterday attempting to get through to someone at USCIS. I got hung up on four times, twice after being on hold for over an hour and a half. I finally got a hold of a Tier 2 officer via the callback system. She wasn't able to tell me much, but repeated the line that our application's security checks our still pending. However she did say that there were no 'red flags' on our application so I truly do not understand what the hold up is. She said that she thought they'd probably be back from security check soon but also said WORST CASE SCENARIO I should have a decision by the end of the year! UGGH! Really!?!? I think I gasped at that point because she repeated that was "worse case scenario" and I could have a decision as early as next week. *sigh* So that's helpful!

I need to just let it go - there is nothing I can really do right now. Monday is a holiday in the US, I've called, I've filed a service request, I've asked a senator and a representative to get involved, I filed a complaint with the Ombudsman yesterday, I need to just wait and see what that does.

I just truly do not understand if there are no red flags on our app why has it taken 298 days (and counting) to give us a decision?

It's very hard to keep my spirits up with this ridiculousness!

Thank you bluebeard, CBO, and cocolucho. Don't lose hope Mellylamelle! I was feeling what you're feeling and it seemed like there's nothing that we could do other than to let it be. It will happen when it happens.

I called my congresswoman office two weeks ago and the person in charge with immigration issues contacted Nebraska to inquire about my case. At that point she was only told that my security checks were still pending and her contact sent a message directly to the officer who was reviewing my case. I dont know if that made a difference but I recommend it. I'm glad I could actually talk to someone and asked for her help rather than just mailing a form to the office without knowing if they do anything to it. Btw, my case was stuck in security check from July to October for unknown reason!

Is there anyone who has a sample letter to write to the congressman? It's been 284 days for me also and uscis tell me not to bug them for another 3 months. I know they say senators can't do much when it comes to background check issues but I am so desperate at this point.

I feel better and am keeping positive for good news soon. On the plus side for us, we don't plan on moving to the US until sometime between June - September 2015, and I am hopeful that we will still be able to make that time frame. Thank God I put the i-130 in last December! I'm so glad we decided to stay another year in Abu Dhabi! Otherwise, waiting for this to come through would have been more agony than it already is! I feel for those of you who are separated from your loved ones.

No one will hear anything today, I wouldn't think, as it's Columbus Day. :)
