This is making me feel slightly better (though frustrated too)! Our i-130 was received December 19 and we are STILL waiting for approval! We received an "RFE" in June which turned out to be for passport photos of us. I am 100% sure I sent them with our original app but we sent new photos in and received a notice of reply on July 31. Since then - nothing. I am going to file congressional inquiry... any other suggestions on how to get the ball moving?

Be proactive, like most of us this is our first time doing this and dealing with the federal goverment. I probably let a lot of time go by without doing enough. Call in ask to speak to a tier 2 ISO. Talk to them and talk to your local congressmen. Fill out the privacy release and explain your case and you might get help. You have nothing to lose and all to gain. My priority date was Dec. 5th, 2013 so yours is surely right around the corner. Best of luck

Don't lose hope guys, we recieved our I-130 email approval today after almost 10 months of waiting. I would suggest contacting the senator of state along with any and all congressman in your area. I started doing this about 2 weeks ago and all of a sudden we were approved. Best of Luck to all.

Congratulations, Greenberry! It's good to know somebody is working on us. I hope your next phase at NVC is as speedy as possible. You deserve a break... All of us do.

On 24 September nsc told me that my background checks are still not cleared an..they also said I should wait 3 months before I contact them again..that's already new year 2015..crazy

I would have never imagined of being stuck at the USCIS for a year or longer (and it is hard not to take it personally), but I would be lying if I said that dreadful thought hasn't crossed my mind in the last weeks. Crazy thought at the beginning of this process, not so much now. I am hoping, of course, to be exaggerating.

Welcome and good luck..I guess your noa2 will arrive soon cause once the background checks are completed the rest don't usually take too long (for other people that I have seen..)

Thanks for the thumbs up, elifg. I hope they didn't lie to us and the waiting is soon coming to an end :) Edited by bluebeard

Thanks, Greenberry. I have been reading the NVC wiki and feel ready for the challenge now. Unfortunately, due to the long background checks we were under, we must request new police and judicial certificates. We will work on compiling all the other requested documents ahead of time -that should keep us busy while waiting.

So, I made an enquiry about why our case was taking so long the other day. Here is the response I received:

"We have received your inquiry stating that you believe your case is beyond our projected processing times. USCIS makes every effort to process cases within the projected timeframes and in the order in which they were received; however, your case has not cleared all required security checks at this time. We cannot provide a specific date on which a final decision will be made on your case. We hope this information is helpful and appreciate your continued patience."

AAAAAGH!!! What does this mean?!!? Security checks!?? Why do I feel like I can see our file sitting on a desk somewhere in Nebraska?

I contacted one of my senators the other day and filled out the paperwork for a congressional inquiry but I haven't heard anything since I sent the paperwork. Maybe I'll follow up today.

I got same response like they just copy and send the same message of all pending cases.

Fees paid! Just wanted to let people know what I found out on a thread here about submitting tax forms, I did not claim my husband on my taxes this past year as I did not think it was relevant, but read that you could be denied based on that and found fraudulent so I am now going through the process to amend my 2013 taxes. For any of you still waiting and this pertains to you I would get on it as I am realizing I may have put our case back a month or so to deal with this, better safe than sorry. Keep your eyes on the prize people each day brings us closer to our loved ones.
