I applied for an I-131 for my younger sister in 2000 and have been checking the status on line about every six months or so because I know it takes about 10 years. I just checked it today and it said Card Document Production.

On December 8, 2000 we mailed the document to the address we have on file. You should receive the new document within 30 days. If you do not, or if you move before you get it, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283

What does this mean. It did not say that when I checked it the last time and now it is saying the sent a card in 2000? I am going to call my sister in the morning and have her go check her mail at the post office and I will also call the customer service number in the morning but I am just CONFUSED.

Any ideas?

The message is in error sort of. You should ahve recieved notice at your address of record on how to proceed. It was probably your notice of reciept. They would never mail out a green card. You sister will interview in her home country and have to pass medical .

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

If you are the petitioner,

you should call into USCIS and see what's what,

with a Tier 2 Human, nowish.

Don't waste time with the first human that answers the phone.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.
