I'm new to visa journey so any information would be a huge help!

Me and my partner are currently gathering all of the documents and proof needed for the I-129F. We plan on sending it to the Dallas Lockbox sometime in March 2014. However, I'm going to visit my partner in America in June until August 2014. My question is, what happens if the I-129F is approved when I am in America? I don't want to be given an interview date at the US embassy in London (I'm British) whilst I am in America.

To put it simply, does anyone know usually how long it takes for the I-129F to be approved, and how long it takes to be given an interview date after? I just want to make sure that I am in England ready for my interview rather than being in America with my partner.

Your interview won't be scheduled until you send in additional forms to them after you receive the NoA 2 and have your medical examination done.

Processing times vary. I am the petitioner, and filed the I-129f in January, and didn't receive I-129 approval until the end of August, after you receive the I-129 approval, information is sent to the consulate, and you have 4 months before the I-129 approval expires (4 months to gather the documents that they request and have a medical exam and interview). Your fiance should also be informed of the I-129 approval, so that is good too.

We just received approval for the visa December 4, so all in all, it took us about 11 months, but it could have been sooner, we chose to interview closer to the expiry date.

Good luck~!

Hello everyone!

I'm pretty new here and me and my partner will be sending off our I-129F early next year. However I have a trip planned in the summer to visit my partner.

My question is how long does the process usually take? How long does it take to get approved? How long until the medical exam, and then the interview?

I want to make sure that I am in the U.K so I am able to send anything else that needs sending, and that I am here ready for my medical exam.

I really don't want to have to fly back from the U.S.A so what do you guys think?? If we send it in Februrary, will there be a chance anything would happen in the summer? Should I not visit my partner in the summer? Or should we send the I-129F after the summer?

Overall process can take about 6-7 months but it can vary greatly to years in some peoples cases with prolonged AP.

The petition stages is going faster at the moment at about 2 months to get NOA2 and 1 month throught the NVC then two/ three months for medical and interview.

How long is your trip in the summer? When do you eventually want to emigrate?

The process after the petition is approved will move as quickly as you can make it go. If you find you're away - no big deal. Cases take 6 weeks or so to make it to local embassies, then it's up to you to book a medical and return forms.

You can likely do things to fit around your existing travel schedule, assuming you submit in Feb and your summer trip is just a short vacation.

Average - it will take 6 - 9 months. So you need to prepare yourself for that. You'll see some visas get approved in 3 months, but that is pretty rare. Tell yourself that it will take at least 6 months.

You really don't know how long it will take - I sent mine in Nov, and the earliest I'll probably get approved (whole process) will probably be early summer.

It will be quite unlikely that your visa will be approved by the summer if you apply in March. Unless you get super lucky! I'm just trying not to keep your expectations high.

Do you have to visit him this summer? If you're going to apply in Feb/March, why don't you wait until everything is approved?
