K1 visa time for French Fiancée coming to California

Hi Everybody,

My fiancée is French, and we are looking at filing our I-129F petition very soon (by the end of this month/early January) and I have a few questions:

1) Do you happen to know the average processing time (meaning the how long it will take before she receives the K1 Visa and can come here to California) ? I've seen sites showing around 5-6 months, just wondering if it depends on what country she comes from as well as what state I am in.

I'm asking this because she is currently negotiating a contract with her work, and doesn't want to sign for too long, but she also doesn't want to sign for 3 more months and then find out she will have to wait an additional 6-9 months before she receives her K1visa.

2) Just to be sure: when I send in the I-129F, do I need to include my fiancée's original signed letter of intent? Can it be a copy? I have the same question regarding the G-325A document...

Thanks for your time- I'm sure everyone here receives these same questions over and over, but I know that we are all here linked together with the same goal of being united with someone we love :) Thanks for any help and insight.

Dave

I'm pretty sure all pages that require signatures (such as letter of intent and G-325) have to be originals. I'm currently preparing those pages to send to my fiancee in the U.S. as well. Since I can't scan+email them, they'll have to go by regular mail or UPS/DHL.

As BertCo said all documents that require signitures need to be originals so no scan and e-mail. As for how long it would take...its a tricky question. if you check the processing times on USCIS website https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/processingTimesDisplay.do;jsessionid=bac92jbQ93R3ocAmmxrlu

it says 5 moths but keep in mind that thats the time frame b/n filling the i-129f aPPLICATION at uscis and it being forwarded to the consulate in the country of your fiance. how long would take from there on depends on the country. However i have read tounsands of blogs and some people said it took less time because of the recent gov shut down while others said it took more than 5 months. So there isnt a specific time frame but I would say avg of 6 moths.

I hope this helps!!!

also take a look at https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/processTimesDisplayInit.do and check the processing times for office you are going to file at.

Hi!

I'm French and my fiance lives in Arizona, we got our NOA2 from USCIS on December 3rd, we mailed the petition on October 21st and got a RFE (he forgot to check 3 boxes, so he did that and mailed it back the same day). I was expecting it to take longer (government break down and holidays). I guess it all depends, it could easily get slower in the next few months, depending on how busy the NVC and Paris Embassy are. If you check the estimated processing times on here: http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1historical, it seems to be pretty accurate and can give you an idea on when is the next step gonna be throughout the whole process. I'm still hoping for 5 to 6 months total.

Good luck to you!
