I am working on h1-b visa. My wife is US citizen. She is currently not working. My father in law is co-sponsoring me. My income is 55000.

Please correct if I am wrong about following:

1. My wife will have to file i-864. Total household size will be two as I don't have any dependent. I can put my income toward total household income.

So total household income will be 55000.

2. My father in law is sponsoring me. My brother in law is minor. My father in law is filing joint tax return with my mother in law. So my father in law will file

864 and my mother in law will file 864-A. Total income of my mother-in-law and father-in-law is 39000.

So total house hold size will be 4 and total household income will be 39000+55000=94000

Please let me know if I am not understanding requirements to feel these forms correctly.

You do not need a co-sponsor. I am a USC, my husband has been here in the States on E-3 visa since Jan. 2012. Our household size - 3 individuals: my working husband, my 21 years old full time student son, and myself - a housewife. Our income is 94K. We have applied for my husband's GC in May 2013. On I-864 I showed my own income as 0, the household income 94K + included the husband's letter of employment, latest pay stubs, and 2012 tax return. Basically, he sponsored himself. We have never gotten any RFE, our GC interview took place August 27th, during which the finances subject was not even brought up. Our case was approved 2 hours after the interview; the actual GC arrived a week later.
