Trying to get a jump start for the next steps

So since my I-130 has been transferred and I'm all giddy with excitement on the light at the end of the tunnel....I'm trying to get a jump start on the next steps of the process. I think I have everything covered for the I-864 but I ran across something that caught my eye for the actual documentation my husband is to bring to his interview. The list mentions "Original or certified copy of marriage certificate" this concerns me because I brought our only copy provided by the marriage registry home with me. I'm not quite sure if I trust mailing this document to Nigeria given the fact that packages/letters are stolen all the time or they make the recipient pay additional funds on the receiving end after they find out what it is. That and the fact that I know if he goes back to registry I'm not sure if they will give him a copy (if they even have one) and if they do the large amount of money they will require him to pay given the fact that I am American.

Needless to say this leaves me a bit torn as to what I should do in this instance. Any input or suggestions would be greatly appreciated :)

You have misinformation. When you get to NVC you will be submitting all original documents to NVC. Not at interview. Thats K1's that do that.

I hope you brought back your husbands documents for his IV Package:

1 birth certificate

2 Biographical pages of his passport

3. 2- passport pics

4. Birth certificate (long form only will be accepted)

5. divorce decree (if applicable)

DO NOT I repeat DO NOT have your husband get his police report until you are at NVC and have got your case#. Than he can go and get the PCC not until (only a 3 month expiry on that).

Go to the NVC filers thread read post #1 and #2 it will help fill you in. NVC has changed alot in the last 3 months and following the thread while you wait for you approval will keep you on top of things so you don't lose time when that time comes.

Luckily I do have all of those things. Just so I am clear other than the I-864 is there anything else I need to submit? This process is soooo confusing lol I need a road map :)

Just for future reference, if you do end up having to send any documents to your husband...yes Nipost is unreliable, but you could send things through fedex and it will reach him securely. It's pricey though. I once sent about 8 pages to someone and it cost roughly 100 dollars (I think there is a minimum, so even if you send less than a pound, they start at a pound). He didn't have to pay too much on his end when he received it either.

At this point, any additional evidence you can also submit. More chat logs, if you've visited him again after you sent the first evidence with the petition, you could send evidence of that, etc. Put your best foot forward........more times than not the CO has their mind made up before your spouse even enters the room. Congrats on getting this far!! Wishing you the best!!

There's a road map, at post #1 and post #2 of the link dWheels supplied to you.

If you've been using a handphone on VJ, it's time to switch to a PC and use a real web-browser, as you've got some serious reading to do nowish - serious reading just simply blows horse turds on a handphone web-browser.

So, click that link dWheels supplied to you, read post #1 and post #2. The road map is there.

If you have problems, hire a teenager for an afternoon or a weekend..

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.
