paperwork after the nVC sends your paperwork to the embassy, can be very tricky. Like here in the Phils..,.,.,.the CFO.,.,my, now wife, almost went with only a copy of her NSO birth cert..,,,.,.which would have been rejected.,.,.just one example.,.,they also had ""inside lanes""" to getting the interview, and escorted her from Cebu to Manila, and was only a few hundred dollars

what do you mean? why would she be rejected for only having 1 copy of the nso birth certificate? "inside lanes" to the interview?

Love your video. My wife looks like same size and figure. I met her on dating site July 16, 2012, went there May 20, 2012,

married June 3, 2012. We chat 2 times a day. When I was there she protected me all the time, saying no, we will not go down that street. I meet 33 of her family and we all click(except for babies....hehehe). I am NVC now waiting for paperwork.

Good luck to you to....GBU

My fiance and I is considering yo use an agency to help us with the petition. Is it really necessary? Will it make your application faster?

A service/attorney will not make things move faster for this process.

Follow the GUIDES here for the K-1 I-129F petition process.

For the actual visa application in Manila stop by the Philippines forum.

It would take exactly same time, at best, if your case is simple and the agency doesn't mess it up, doesn't make mistakes, etc.

If you feel unsure, get an attorney, this is not the time to save money if there is something that can bring complications. A simple case -most of us are simple cases- can be done by yoursef.

Simple case means you have no arrests, no felonies, single or not longer married, divorce documentation, have seen finace/ee in person at least once in past 2 years. etc. There are some additional advice pertaining specifically some countries catalogued as high fraud. Read the guides here and then based on that, you can ask questions specific to your case to determine the best direction.

Only very complicated cases need an attorney and you will hear that here clear and loud if that is the case.

An agency may not make it faster. A lawyer may not make it faster. What makes it faster is: USCIS, NVC, and the Consulate (manila is like the wind) and of course the couple and their history and their accuracy in paperwork. Honesty and integrity also play a role. Read every form. Check every box necessary. Re-read, re-check. Have a someone look over the shoulder. Include things that are NOT required (but not too many just enough to eliminate doubt). Pics are important but boardign passes and itineries are more important. Read the forums for the extras. And there are extras. US consulate in Manila handed us a paper in the building that says "OH make sure you have this, this, and this." A couple of those "This" items were not listed as required.....until you walk through the door. We had them anyway thanks to the inordinate amount of reading and reading and checking and double checking. IF your petitioner CANNOT do the reading and re-reading and checking and double checking that is necessary, then an agency, lawyer, friend, may very well make it faster.

Like many have said, am agency/lawyer is not strictly necessary in most cases, but it depends on how comfortable you are and if you think you have any red flags. My fiancé and I have no red flags, we're both single never married, no police records or visa problems, however we just felt better hiring a lawyer. I tend to overthink and stress over the paperwork and second guess if I'm filling the forms correctly and whatnot. We like the piece of mind knowing someone with experience was walking us through each step and putting the packets together. It's not cheap though. My lawyer charges a flat rate of $2000 for a K1/K3 and another $1000 or so for the adjustment of status.

No.

It will be slower. Your fiance could stay up late tonight and do the papers, take them to the post office and have themn in the mail tomorrow morning. The service will not do that. The service cannot do anything...NOTHING...until your fiance provides all the information, copies of documents and every other item needed to file the petition to the service who will then duplicate it and prepare it for your fiance to sign. This cannot possibly be faster than your fiance doing it himself

As for processing times, any service indicating that they can provide faster processing times is lying.

Even if you have RED FLAGS (whatever you think that may be) the attorney can do nothing about it. This is a simple form filed with a clerk that makes an independent decision as to whether you provided everything necessary to be approved. It is not a committee decision. You meet the very simple requirements ...or you don't. Once mailed, there is nothing left to do but wait.

Attorneys have no ability to "do anything" for the petition process. If you can follow simple instructions, and answer questions about personal information (an attorney cannot unless you give them the answers) then you can do this. A job application at Home Depot is more complicated. College applications are WAY more complicated. Know anyone that hires attorneys for that?

For the petition...you MUST

1. Be a US citizen to petition a fiance(e)

2. Have met in person at least one time in the last 2 years

3. Be eligible and willing to marry each other within 90 days after arrival of the beneficiary

4. Not have any VAWA or AWA disqualifications (if you do not know what that means, you have none)

Which of those things could an attorney change?

True, the attorney cannot change anything if you don't meet requirements. They are just a guide through the process. I did not know about VJ when we filed but I had several friends that went through the process and every single one of them hired a lawyer so that's what I did. I like knowing we are working with someone who has done this several times and helps with the forms. Maybe it's just me but I found the forms and process much more intimidating and complicated than a job application. I was afraid I would make an error or forget to include something in the packet and cause delays. Having an attorney also is very reassuring to my fiancé's family. Not necessary but it's worth it for me.

I said, if we had not had the visa company, we would hve taken a ""copy"" of the birth certificate, instead of the orginal, the interview kept the orginal.,., we thought the copy would be fine.,.,.,.,AND.,., we would have missed our flight to the USA and had to re-schedule, my point is for a minimum amount of money a very good visa company is worth the money!

Ahh I see. it is true that having a good agency that really takes care of you is invaluable. however, the challenge is in finding an agency that can be trusted. with that in mind, maybe you can help the OP to explore their options by recommending the agency that helped you.
