The current strategy in Iraq wasn't working, and is in need of a serious rethink. Even the President seems to concede to that.

As I said, Rumsfeld isn't Hitler - and the comparison has been so overused it's ridiculous. It even turns Hitler into a cartoon caricature. But neither can it be claimed that (as Cheney did), that Rumsfeld was "the best secretary of defense this country has ever had".

Saddam - bad, Gaddaffi - good. What do they have in common? The same same type of leader, the same type of regime. One is our 'friend', the other is not. Go figure.

Stands to reason. The rebels and their financiers have more time, money and 'resolve' than the allied forces. The difficulty is how to stabilise Iraq without it devolving into a full scale civil war - and it clearly requires a bit more creativity than the blunt thinking that got us here in the first place.

Its kind of ironic this thing about what other people want, does anyone here go to your neighbor and ask them what life changing decisions you should make? of course not. We all know what needs to be done in Iraq, but it seems that its far to ugly. The fact is, the enemy has no concious and we need to fight them with the same fervor. We all are spoon fed everynight with three minutes of B.S. on the news, if you dont see it your naive as he!!. Dont like WAR? join the club! I'm so glad that I am not in denial and screaming PLEASE just make it go away! Tha fact is that its not goin away until WE end it!

No Rumsfeld is not Hitler. He is not Stalin nor Bin Laden. Neither is he General Patton, Abraham Lincoln or George Washington.

He will however be briefly remembered for being the architect of a dirty war, before fading quietly into obscurity.

Along with pres. Bush.

History will see Bush as a comma and the second gulf war as a mistake. Much like the soviet invasion of Afghanistan.

President Bush (GW) will be seen as the steadfast president governing his fellow countrymen with a depth of knowledge and perspective not yet appreciated as well as following his moral convictions regardless of popularity.

Being a President isn't a popularity contest.

He will best be remembered for his recognition of a growing and real threat to the west; a threat that's been utterly ignored by our supposed "allies" with the exception of England and Australia, and one that was appeased to by Spain.
