Hi guys,

I've been lurking these forums hoping I wouldn't have to ask any questions, but here I am. I'm hoping I did the timeline right. Husband and I got married in the US and sent off the i485 and the ead application. We got a rfe which was his medical and some signatures. Sent that off and although we never heard back in the mail, the online status changed from document production rfe response review (but only on i485, not for the EAD). Later, the i485 thing went back to initial review and said 'change of address' so we decided to give them a call.

The first woman we spoke to said that his card had already been authorized and was in the mail, but then someone called us back and said that there had been no authorization and that there were documents that were returned to their address so the case was now 'on hold'. We changed our address online, through the mail and checked back on the phone to make sure it got processed on both forms and the customer representative said that it was all fine, but the second tier person (don't really know what they are called) said that he had to put in a ticket for the address change and that there were 50k cases before us.

We never received a NOA so that may be what bounced but then why would it change online? I'm so confused and so disheartened, especially at the fact that the first person we spoke to said it was approved. Second guy said that there was nothing to worry about really, but it's very difficult to trust them when they can't process a simple address change.

So can anyone talk me down? Share their experience? Give me some advice? Make me some hot chocolate?

Anything would help.

I'm US, he's UK.

No, we did it on time. I approximated the time it took because i don't have access to my papers right this second, but it was within the 86 days - i think we sent it off on day 60 something, basically as soon as we could, a few days after we saw the doctor.

EtA: I'll update my timeline to the proper dates tomorrow
