BBC iplayer..... Google Chrome..... Hola plug in.....

Problem solved.

Yes America does not do sausages right. I agree. Generally they are nasty, little, and over spiced.

Bacon they can do with a slight modification to the cooking method.

I was happy to find Marmite over there.

I was not happy that none of my US family liked it. Sigh. Still, all the more for me!

Reading this thread made me think of all the things I'm going to miss - The chippy, for one and Indian takeaway definitely. I've not found a single place in KC that does that. We've had "fish and chips", but store-bought, so I'm going to have to learn to cook while I wait to be able to work!! My fiancee can cook pretty well, but I'm useless at it, so I'm making this a project now biggrin.png

I will also miss the proper BBC. BBC with adverts just feels wrong! Oh, and by extension, David Attenborough. I know the Discovery Channel changes the voiceovers on his documentaries to other people, and that's a crime if you ask me... Not that I can't get them from iPlayer of course, it's just more difficult.

Again Google Chrome..... Hola extension.... BBc Iplayer.......

Watch PBS. They generally dont abuse British programming to much and I think they have been showing some David Attenborough stuff recently

Watch out... Cadburys chocolate in the US is a poor cousin to the real stuff back home. It is made by Hershey and they cant make chocolate.

That's exactly our problem! Finding the real stuff. I remember trying the Cadburys "caramello". I am the biggest chocolate addict in the world and I couldn't even finish one line of squares. Disgusterous!

If you like Galaxy chocolate then a bar of Dove chocolate will generally get you by LOL

Hehe that's my fiancé's favourite game when he comes over here. Trying our chocolate bars and figuring out what their equivalent is. He still insists our Milky Ways and their Milky Ways are similar enough...I say otherwise :P

As a veggie, I miss the choice I used to have in restaurants. Now I usually have one choice, if I'm lucky. And it's usually a veggie burger. Labeling on supermarket food is not good. I miss having the 'v' symbol on veggie food and I now have to read the labels thoroughly. The put chicken stock in the obscurest foods and I can't eat Dean's Onion Dip because they put gelatin in it! So sour cream and Lipton's Onion Soup mix for my dip.

I miss Reggae Reggae sauce. I did buy 2 bottles off Amazon for a daft amount of money but it tasted so good.

And I still miss Warburton's crumpets. Nothing here is the same - they're like flat, airy pancakes. I've tried making then and, frankly, they weren't worth the effort.

Ohh don't get started on food labeling...

As much as I love my adopted country, it is driven by the almighty dollar. And if putting on a label what really is in food that might affect the bottom line it just wont happen.

Im veggie too! and agree that there is animal in such random things here, really do miss the V logo. And totally agree about veggie choices in restaurants, end up lookin in salad section thinking 'surely there must be something here' and turns out they love to throw bacon on their salads

I really miss M&S, when me and my man had to do long distance while waiting for our visa id see my friends buying the 10pound dinner deal and think it was romantic in a strange way and I couldn't wait to do that with my man but it doesn't exist here

Milky Ways? In the States they are vastly inferior. It's barely even a Milky Way. I forget what the chocolate bars are that are actually like Milky Ways, but the Milky Ways I've eaten there are more like Mars bars. Not even light or fluffy at all.

Oh I didn't even think about crumpets. Of course, the quintessential British breakfast food - I can't get along in my own country without them being Warburton's and I can't imagine what the American variant is like. Good job I like pancakes I guess...

Pooky - Marmite is great! ;)

This made me laugh.

Milky Ways in America ARE Mars Bars

3 Musketeers are the equivalent to Milky Ways.

I remember bringing some back to mess with my little brother.
