Ok, this is my very first time posting on VJ. I usually read the posts from others to get ideas and just to research the whole visa immigration journey. Reading these particular posts, I stop and ask myself .... Why can't we Stop all the hatred and just try to unite as people with different opinions. No one will agree with any and everything that another person does. This is what makes us unique as a person. Agree to disagree and learn to respect the opinion of others. With that being said, there is a such thing as free speech but there is also a such thing as respect. I can understand people not liking a particular person, there are many people that I don't particularly care for, but I would never be so disrespectful as to say such hurtful and downgrading things about them. I think this whole immigration process is so nerve wrecking and stressful for everyone that it would be good not to have to come to this site for help and comfort to see such disrespectful posts.

Again, this is only my opinion and again I, like everyone else should/have to agree to disagree. There are so much I would like to say about the content of some of these particular posts but I will keep it classy and refrain from engage in this type of disrespectful/demeaning behavior. I know that I will probably get some not so pleasant remarks back but I will be the bigger person and refrain from responding to any negative posts that might come from my response to what I have read here. My mother has always taught me that if you don't have anything nice to say, to keep you mouth closed. She would as tell me when growing up "to each is own." What I like, the next person may not like. We have to learn to respect others and keep it moving.

Do you have anything to say about the topic? The topic is ":the OP contends that the President of the US is racist for ordering the flag to be flown at half mast to honor the memory of Nelson Mandela", in case that fact passed you by.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

@ the Truth,

Thanks for your reply. As I said in my post, I'm not going to get into the back and forth negative interaction in response to this is post. But if you would like to know my opinion, I think that it is a good thing that the President has asked for flags to be flown at half mast in memory of/honor of Nelson Mandela. Again, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I'm not going to say anything negative to anyone that post on this topic or any other topic. I just think as I said earlier we can all agree to disagree at times and this can be done in a classy fashion without all of the name calling and lack of respect for our fellow people. Thanks

What Gary is saying is that the weird American habit of saying things with flags is being abused by a racist president who wants to send a racist message with his flag. A batty idea, but then the OP does have some particularly wacky theories that he feels the need to share with the VJ community.

Thank you for explaining it, in such a fashion that I can actually understand it.

I think you need to resume yer olde post of 'Gary Interpreter' for the next quarter.

Apologies, if you wish to swim in this sub-forum,

you'll need to expose as much hate as possible, from your personal pile,

in such a way that all know your point of view.

More hate, please.

Less hate? No hate? Then it just isn't fun for this sub-forum regulars.

I stand corrected. They were on YouTube. YAY! And it is free also, just like the T-shirts. We had snging, dancing, t-shirts. Surprised he stayed in prison for 27 years with such support. But no empty threats of attack and stuff like against the Syrians. #######? Someone could have threatened military action and been told not to by Gorbachev or something.

Why do you suppose Obama did not lower the flag for Maggie Thatcher? Is he racist or sexist? Or both?

Look, you are taking this WAY too seriously. You assume a position and then post stuff which would be consistent with that position...every so often throw in mis-speelings because some people are unable to contribute and need some sort of "opening" for a personal attack. If they can't say anything on topic, they can attack your spelling. English only. No cursive writing.

It is just a game. You can tell because anyone assuming the liberal positions and really meaning that stuff would have to be too mentally impaired to actually operate a keyboard. Seriously?

So , think about your role and start posting (Sheep lover is already taken, but the "can't we all just get along" role is open) Choose your flag accordingly. Fly it at half staff if you want.

Funny, when The Specials released that single, I don't think the USA had MTV, let alone YouTube. And that was just the best known track, and by no means the only one. That is, if you were paying attention. ;)

I think the President didn't lower the flags for Margaret Thatcher because of the diametrically opposed political viewpoints, added to the somewhat controversial aspect of her Prime Ministership.

I would hope his family history would not play into his overall attitude, with regard to the United Kingdom, although there continue to be suspicions to the contrary.
