Hello,

I am helping my joint sponsor (my dad) with the form I-864.

From the checklist on travel.state.gov I have the following information:

7. IF you filed US taxes, you MUST submit a copy of your most recent federal income tax return with all supporting schedules and/or W-2s or an Internal Revenue Service (IRS) transcript, even if the sponsor filed electronically.

  • All pages of the tax return must be stapled together in the correct order

My dad emailed me a copy of his federal tax return from last year, and it is 120 pages. I can't even staple this together. Do I need to send all of it?

I have read on some other forum posts to just include the 1040, any "Schedule ..." documents, 1099s and W-2s.

I know it is also possible to send a tax transcript, but I do not have this on hand.

Here is the forum post I referred to above: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/197457-income-tax-documents-with-i-864-affidavit-of-support/

Thanks!

If you are including the actual tax return with all forms, then yes you need to include ALL of it. The better option would be to get a tax return transcript, it would be a lot less pages.

Tax transcript is 1 page double sided. Easy to get via ordering and waiting a week, or going to an irs office and get it same day.
