We got our NOA2 Oct 15th and had been calling NVC for case number at least twic a week but they told us that they have not received our file yet from USCIS so the supervisor adviced my fiancée to call USCIS she called them today and spoke to a supervisor who told her that our file has been sent to the consulate directly without going through NVC. Is that normal? Had anybody experienced this before? Is almost 2 months since we got approved and I heard the petition is only valid for 4 months from the date of approval. Please I will like to know if anyone had experience this in the past. Thanks every one.

NVC may be backlogged and may have received the petition, but haven't processed it yet.

The petition does expire after 4 months, however you can get the validity extended. The procedure for that varies between embassies.

We got our NOA2 on August 1st, but it wasn't processed in NVC unti September 24, which is the date we got our case number mailed to us. It's obnoxiously slow!

I agree with dwheels76, do this! But just to correct the information, scan and email I-797 (NOA2). I-797C is NOA1.

USCIS is notorious for giving out wrong information. Have you called the foreign fiance's US consulate to verify this?

I am pretty certain that your petition will be sent to NVC. NVC says to wait 8 weeks, and your 8 weeks is almost up. Just wait a few days more. If it's still not with NVC, I have a feeling USCIS sent your petition elsewhere by mistake. Perhaps NBC? Won't be the first time that happened.

Nvc had out case in less than a week, and I called NVC and got an MNL case number, a day or two later, and it left NVC within 2 days after receipt..,.,..,., WHAT HAS HAPENED TO THE PROCESS.,,., it was working so well with NVC...,. now it seems to be a nightmare, our thoughts and prayers go with this the speedy recovery of NVC,.....to the "nightmare"" that seems to be NVC!

Honestly, I'm confused. The embassy typically knows about the case before it arrives because NVC assigned the new case number. Also, NVC can take other steps as additional checking of petitions. With me, after receiving the case number from the NVC rep, I was able to track the case while it traveled from NVC to the consulate. You can contact NVC and DOS numbers to ask questions on your case. USCIS can only confirm that the case was shipped. (Your USCIS case status does indicate "shipped" right?)

Good luck!
