Old Passports / documents not returned question

Good morning all,

My fiancee received her visa and passport today. Yippee! My question is that the filipino consul asked for her old passports and some other documents during her interview and said they will be returned. She did not receive her old passports in todays package with her visa. Will there be another package sent to her with her old passports or will they just keep it?

Thanks in advance and Happy Friday!

I would say follow up on this if you really want them back.

Thanks Hank. I'll have to have her call the USEM on Monday to follow up on it. Funny thing is she waited till this morning to open up the package since it said "Do Not Open". But how else will she be able to get her visa and passport without opening the plastic envelope.

The only envelope that is not to be touched is the one with the actual DO NOT OPEN stamped on it, it is fine to open the plastic bag.

There is a cut in the corner of the DO NOT OPEN envelope, other then that there should be no rips or tears in that envelope (if torn contact the embassy), we kept that envelope inside the plastic bag and in our carry on luggage for safe keeping.

Thanks Hank you are truly an asset to VJ. Only thing left to do is CFO next week and pay that Immigrate fee. Feb 2014 cant come her soon enough. I'll be going there to pick her up! No side trips this time since I'll only be in the PI for a week.

You can pay the exiting immigrant fee right at the airport very easily (and quickly), the counter is up front in the terminal between the two luggage scanners.

Safe Travels

Just to make sure I dont have to pay the USCIS ELIS fee since this is for a K1 visa correct? I dont want any surprises once we get to the airport.

Thanks again!

ELIS fee is not for K-1.

Immigrant exit fee (1620 Php) charged by the Philippine government is paid by every Filipino exiting the Philippines with an immigrant visa.

Whispers to Hank: The PhP 1620 is for the travel fee, which all Filipinos pay for whenever they leave the country whether it's for holiday, business or immigration purposes, with or without any type of visa. innocent.gif

Yes that is what my wife says also, but for here on the visa forum I am only making sure that those leaving with their visa know that have to pay the exit fee... it would suck to get to the airport and not have the 1620 PHP .

Thanks so much for the thread and the info. I was unaware of the exit fee. It would have been an issue at the airport if my fiancée did not have the funds on her.
