My Russian wife is so very confused about the American healthcare system...

when they get sick, they just go to the clinic..

Here, they take about $ 400 a month out of my salary., plus we still must pay to go to the doctor, for medicine, and for tests..

She asked me why do they take money every month if we still must pay when we go...

Its a good question, I do not have a good answer..... :-(

for health insurance executives to earn multi-million dollars every year... is not acceptable when people are dying because they can not afford healthcare.

those dollars factor in to the cost of healthcare... therefore, if you eliminate all health insurance companies there could be several hundred million dollars available for actual health care costs...

What about all the lawyers that leach off the system. John edwards and the like. One of our hospitals in my area is the largest employers in the county........ You need to pay these people well to get good talent. It does not matter if it is a ceo of an insurance company or head of a hospital or airplane mfg. You need good talent to manage a business. I know of a Blue cross division that handles most of their claims for their state. Millions if not 10's of millions of dollars flow in every day through the company.You have maybe over 10,000.people employed. IF you did not handle the operation correctly like any other business they could be bankrupt. Just like any other business..... You need the talent to manage a company of this size and you pay what other companies are paying to get this talent. . This website that the kenyan made up by some accounts may cost over a billion dollars , and from what I understand people can enroll but cannot pay for coverage yet. .....What will happen come Jan 1st some one will be in a very bad accident and find out they have NO insurance,,, But we enrolled.....But you are not paid in the plan said the woman at the hospital. How many thousand times will this play out the first month of operation. You do not have a CEO making sure ALL the dots are connected. Just someone you would meet like at the DMV. Telling you sorry you have a bill for $100,000....check or cash sir. You have no insurance.

To me it is one thing to be required to have car insurance to drive a car because to have a car is a choice (true, most American would say it is not a choice). However it is another thing to be required to have health insurance just because we are alive and US citizens. Basically we have to die to get out of paying for health insurance.

I feel bad for the self employed people because they have to eat all the health cost while most of us only see a portion of the true cost of OBAMA CARE because their employeer eat the rest of the cost.
