Getting Police Record

Hello, We are preparing the last documents for the K1 visa interview and I would like to ask for some help in getting the police certificate for my fiancee in Chernivtsi, Ukraine. I'm not familiar where to go to obtain this, how long it would take, or if there is any fee involved. Are there any specific questions to ask? I assume she would just need to ask for a report that indicates whether she would have had any criminal record (which she doesn't).

Very grateful to anyone who can help us.

Thanks,

It says in the K1 instructions as to how to get it:

In Ukraine the certificate must be obtained in the oblast centers from the Departments of Information Technology at the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
My fiancee got it within a week (applied on Friday, got it next Thursday). I don't know if she paid anything to get it. It's just a half-sheet of paper stating that they do not have any criminal records and that she is not wanted by the police.

Thanks,

My experience is that most folks know what the cert is and where to go. Usually takes about a month for a small fee and quicker if other "consideration" is offered

Phil (Lockport, near Chicago) and Alla (Lobnya, near Moscow)

As of Dec 7, 2009, now Zero miles apart (literally)!
